Yessir, deals with Italian-American gangster families and rum runners: set in the Big Apple during Prohibition, it oozes class while throwing more than a few curve balls and fantastic elements that you won't see coming from a mile away! As an American, I literally had too much fun with this fresh take on quintessential 20th century Americana.

A couple more honorable mentions: I dunno' why exactly, but this ending song of Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple is too darn catchy. I could listen to it over, and over, and over....

In case you're wondering, Kenichi is a pretty fun Shonen ride with a good dub to boot.

And from one of my favorites (which I'm currently just finishing again), the ending to the second season of School Rumble stirs up all kinds of warm 'nostalgia-esque' feelings (like, not nostalgia for anything in particular, but just that indiscernible sense of longing you have when you look back on fond memories).

Plus, uncharacteristically for an English dub these days, Tenma's and Yakumo's English VA's sang the ending (just going off of listening), and...well, I love Caitlin Glass' voice in the dub of School Rumble so much (another HILARIOUS show with a great dub, btw), and sure as shootin' she can carry a tune beautifully, too. Her voice is so smooth...smooth like...well, like glass!

I couldn't find a video besides this that had the proper video, so please don't mind the karaoke lyrics (though it's fun to sing along to me anyway, so I don't mind it)- I love the methodology of using the eyes for transitions.

The song is the ending for Papa no Iukoto o Kikinasai (in English: Listen to me girls, I'm your father!), Coloring by Yui Horie.

Another one I like (just going through my mp3 list and shoving the videos as I find them) is the opening for Humanity has Declined. Not sure why...Besides all the fairies.

Always liked this one, mainly for the music but the animation is cool too.

Wasn't too big a fan of Xam'd but this ending was awesome.

Honourable mentions for openings: Eureka Seven Opening 1 & Kill la Kill Opening 1v2

One of my favourite openings is from Takehiko's previous anime before Outlaw Star, Lord of Lords Ryu Knight. I got the single from Japan because the music is so damn catchy and I wanted it in CD quality, and Adeu's (protagonist) face expressions are classic.

I just remembered an ending song I really liked. I couldn't follow the anime well, but... I really liked the animation for the ending. Sadly, I can't find the original vocal version, only covers in regards to videos that use the actual animation. But...It's still good? Shin Sekai Yori was great for a while, but it probably confused me even more than Humanity Has Declined...What's with heavily confusing anime having nifty animation huh?

I'm not sure why I liked this one so much too, but...The OP for Zetsuen no Tempest (an anime I never expected: mixing Shakespeare.). I liked the anime itself too, but...Something about the OP (besides being in English from the beginning, even though the anime wasn't...)... It just...Wow.

@Mantis: Remind me to watch that anime later. It looks nifty (though Takehiko's involvement helps, but I just really like the song too). I like how it recommends a Phi Brain song next...xD

@Nitro: Both of those are awesome, but I especially like the animation on the first one...and the song on the second. So cool, that Tatami action.

Re-watching Cyber City Oedo with Mantis, I was reminded of how fuckin' rad this opening is. Funnily enough, this only appears in the 'UK version' despite being identical to the US release in every other aspect.

    Oh, great thread!

Man, I still get nostalgic over this classic opening.
