    RE: Gurren Lagann DVD Problems

Whilst piracy is against site policy, right now I'd consider torrenting it and burning the series onto reliable DVD discs. You have a right to since you purchased the series. That's all I can really suggest. Instead of downloading rips in video file formats, find the actual DVD files online which will be an exact copy.

    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I'm considering that, but i'm gonna see what Bandai gives me first. The less chance my computer gets a virus, the better.

    RE: Gurren Lagann DVD Problems

    sorry for double posting:

thank you to everyone who offered me suggestions for how to handle this. after 13 fun-filled hours i finally checked all the dvds for problems... only to have my dad tell me that he's going to send all of them back to bandai for replacement anyway.

13 hours of my life i'll never get back

    sigh

Maybe the replacements will work? Still, sounds like a pain.

So an update on this, if you guys remember my problem with this: I DID get my replacement DVDs back. SIX MONTHS AFTER I SENT THEM OUT. It took Bandai until mid November to get the DVDs back to me. I'd assume this had something to do with the fact that they pretty much went bottoms up shortly after that, but still, that's ridiculous.

The good news is that they work now. I was able to watch the entire 27 episode series without any problems whatsoever. In fact, they didn't send me replacement discs back, they just sent me an entire new DVD set of it. So I now have two cases for Gurren Lagann, but only one set of discs.

Nice. The Gurren Lagann Blu-ray sets from Aniplex America are super expensive for the same volume size pretty much as the old Bandai America DVD releases. I noticed some issues when playing some of the Gurren Lagann DVDs myself, but I think it's how they burned them or what discs they used. They work on my Blu-ray player fine. I have the old Bandai set that has a Gurren face and the mouth opens to the 6 DVD volumes. No getting refunds from Bandai now. :p
