Kinda late to the game, but I'd like to nominate Upotte!! which is basically about Moe Japanese schoolgirls who are the anthropomorphic personification of 20th century battle rifles with some ecchi humor thrown in. The main cast is basically the schoolgirl iterations of the Belgian FN FNC, the US M-16, the British L85A1 and Swiss SG550 service rifles. The upperclassmen and faculty are represented by even older rifles such as the FN-FAL or US M-14 and even the M1 Garand or Thompson submachine gun.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised- I mean if there's a manga and anime out there where entire nations are represented as an individual character, then it would stand to reason that someone would end up doing an anime with personifications of a nation's military hardware.

The Soviet/Russian weaponry is represented by Kitsunemimi schoolgirls from a rival academy. The Finnish Sako RK95 is personified by a psychotic lesbian pseudo Deedlit clone- complete with elf ears while the Israeli Galil also has dog/fox ears (apparently to indicate how much the Israelis had incorporated characteristics from the Russian AK47 when designing the Galil). The latter two are considered 'unaligned'.

So far there's some running gags about FNC/Funco's 'skeleton stock'/'thong' and poor resident shy/busty/ill/clumsy girl Eru/L85A1 seems to be the butt of so many jokes about the early unreliability of the British service rifle and its weight (which were later mitigated in real life by the Ministry of Defense, but this apparently doesn't come up in the anime at all). I'm trying to determine if M-16/Ichiroku's boisterous personality is supposed to be a stereotypical loudmouth Kansai girl or stereotypical loudmouth Yankee....or maybe a mix of both.

This is a 10-episode series that's actually pretty fun so far- especially compared to some of the surreal and soul-crushing titles others have brought up in this thread- but there may not be a lot of overlap in the big Venn diagram that charts out 'weapons otaku' and 'schoolgirl comedy' fans.

Also, I guess the title is "Gun" or "Guns" backwards in Japanese....which makes me wonder if the appropriate English title would be "Snug!"

Why is it so often that the Japanese school girls are the ones to crank up the crazy to 11?

Hmm...weirdest for me (as opposed to "disturbing" in which case I'd like to forget some I've stumbled upon lol) might have to be Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san. It's like Cromartie High School cranked up to eleven (if that makes sense). It's intentionally as off-the-wall as possible, and many of the jokes are so esoteric to a Japanese viewer, they'll go completely over anyone else's head...and even then, again it's not supposed to make sense.

One of the few anime productions that I, a film student, cannot grasp: for that, in an odd way it will always command my respect. And, despite how completely outside the lines this thing is, I think the unorthodox fighting philosophy of 'sexy commando' found its way in subsequent anime (e.g. Plastic Nee-san which you may vaguely be familiar with a la various gifs strewn about the internet).

I can't believe I forgot this one anime...It's really one of the weirdest I've ever seen: "Humanity has Declined". Warning, the trailer cannot be unseen:

Things that make this anime extremely weird:
-The main character and one other major character have no names. They're never named, period.
-The series seems to move backwards to some extent (besides the episodes that are part one and two of each other, but otherwise...).
-The new species that seems to be succeeding humans, the fairies, are just weird and cynical without thinking.
-...You'll know when you watch the first episode or two why this is weird as frickin heck. Or, y'know, from the trailer. It starts by looking simple and cute, and ends with way more creepiness than I expected. I should've known better from the title. -.-

I found Battle Programmer Shirase a bit weird. I imagine this is actually a repeated theme in anime, but the girl is really young (like ten or something) in this one. The main character is a paedophile who keeps trying to get panty shots of this girl, though it's all in a comedic style. The OP doesn't really tell a lot. I don't remember a lot about it to be completely honest.

Though I have seen plenty of other weird anime. I liked the below one a lot.
