Damn, it's been a month. I haven't been gaming a huge deal. It's often quite difficult to game due to ultra-loud drilling work six days a week (up until the summer apparently, yaaaay) which kills any immersive game for me so I prefer to play at night. I spent a couple of weeks sometimes playing SWAT 4. Eventually I did end up playing it with Starwind55. It's been good fun but plays quite differently to the usual single player experience that has you heavily depending on a full AI team. I've since been using the SWAT Elite Force mod which combines the original campaign with the expansion and adds a couple of extra maps. As far as I can tell there's 22 missions, so I'm going to revise my SWAT progress.

       36% SWAT Elite Force

Additionally, Halo: Combat Evolved came to Steam a week ago. I got Starwind55 started on that, playing the first mission on co-op. He then continued the game solo. Since I've already completed Halo countless times I've mostly focused on the multiplayer. However, I did begin a popular mod (across the internet in general, not just Halo fans) called Cursed Halo:

Despite knowing the vanilla game like the back of my hand this mod is incredibly different and incredibly fun! Therefore I'm essentially considering it another game, so to speak. I'm not playing it in a hurry and it's hard to anyway since a lot of the gameplay is determined randomly. Yesterday I finished The Library, so...

       70% Cursed Halo

I need to complete that final Ace Attorney: Trials and Tribulations case already! I think I'll do that tomorrow. Oh yeah, one other thing, I've gotta stick to the plan and complete Final Fantasy III this month. I should probably begin this week.

Dang. Including shipping time that's not going to give you very long to finish it. I mean, you wouldn't play an inferior version to the Chad reproduction cart, would you?

Lol, this is the way I played it on my NES. I don't remember much about it honestly except for one night I played it during Halloween so I put my CRT television near the front door and paused when kids rang/knocked and gave them candy. Then right back to FF III! Best of luck to you however you go about it. Like I and II it can get rather dry but it the most gripping of the three NES titles.

I completed Cursed Halo last night. It actually ended quite abruptly which really surprised me! I overlooked something important though. One of the main characters is called Captain Keyes. In Cursed Halo, the pistol is changed so it's backwards. (Not completely useless though. You hold fire to throw them as throwing pistols.) Unfortunately for Captain Keyes, in one of the cutscenes instead of shooting an enemy he actually blasts himself in the head, dying instantly. That's why it's missing the level that's dedicated to him.

As promised, I'll write a mini review for Cursed Halo, but I'm gonna keep it to a rather short non-review (about the mod rather than Halo itself) since Starwind55 wrote about the vanilla game at length and I still need to reply to that thread.

       100% Cursed Halo

Cursed Halo is a mod made by InfernoPlus who's well known for other mods for Halo, other games and various projects like Mario Royale. It's Halo... but batshit crazy. Every standard weapon is a parody of itself and many new weapons are thrown into the mix. Would you like to finally teach those alien bastards a lesson? Easy, lob a sticky grenade above them and watch as they retreat from the incoming perilous "plasma bukkake". If you've had enough of that, this is where the D20 frag grenade comes in. Throwing it will randomly choose one of several dozen effects. That could be a powerful weapon, Rick Astley in Spartan armour, a swarm of enemies (unlucky), a small forest or a rare chance of a giant image of naked Thanos, cock and bollocks included. (InfernoPlus trolled streamers hard there. I think it even got some banned from Twitch.)

As fun as the D20 grenade is, you could say the firearms are even more entertaining. The shotgun is now a blunderbuss with extreme recoil. You can now have four arms thanks to plasma rifles. There's a NES Zapper that instakills... but only with headshots. It otherwise does nothing! Good luck doing much of anything with the inconvenient rocket launcher which you hold backwards, and never count on the flaccid sniper rifle. It's the kind of mod that's difficult to explain really. It expands on the base game in a intentionally counterintuitive way. And that just makes it fun.

In other news, I'm about halfway through the final case of the Ace Attorney Trilogy now.

Haha, you know I prefer the Chad style of just buying a game digitally and enjoying it with ease, rather than the incel way of faffing about with lots of consoles and physical copies for hours that will take up unnecessary space! So it'll be the 3D Final Fantasy III. I was against both that and the 3D version of IV ever since they came to DS as I thought they looked way too chibi compared to the PS1's use of 3D. (I figured I wouldn't be able to take childlike aesthetics as seriously.) I'm going to approach this with an open mind.

Halo didn't have enough cutscenes for it to deserve the Hideo Kojima name.

Yeah, I wanted to play Halo mainly because I wanted to absorb it myself so I could write my novel of a thread about it. Still, we ought to play some more co-op of Halo...maybe not cursed Halo though. It might make things too crazy. Crazy can be good but well...remember when we thought playing Serious Sam on the highest difficulty was a good idea? Remember how badly that ended for us?

Oh man, Serious Sam. That was really something and I learned that it's the kind of game that probably works best on solo. It just became really confusing with co-op. I used to enjoy the games as a kid but that was on my own.

I haven't been sticking to playing the games on my list... at all. I've been doing a fair bit of housework over the past few days, which is a plus I suppose. I guess maybe I'll extent my Final Fantasy III playthrough time to within the first four months of the year and then the following two months after for the IV games. If I finish the Ace Attorney Trilogy tonight at least that'll be something.
