Hahah, *one* negative attribute...that's amazing.

And a harrowing experience... which torments them and causes her to push the interest away, which only makes him go after her to find out what's wrong. After about a second of prodding it's revealed that she's the daughter/fiance/WHATEVER of some evil guy who killed the love interests father.

Yeah, my one and only fan character in the OLS universe is Seth Clanclan, whose history and sibling relationship with Aisha have changed more times than I can count since creating him about ten years ago. I've finally got a lock on his solid history, though it has its share of downsides. Basically he's an adopted part of the Clanclan family (starting at three months old), but never saw the light of day due to being part of a joint physics-psychology experiment, or at least not until he was in his 20s.

Yep, he's still somewhat protective of his older sister, but compared to how overprotective he was before, it's at a far more reasonable level.

I'll admit, I think I had a mary sue... She was a bio-android backup for the XGP, but I tried to make her a little less mary sue like. She was an android version of her creators daughter, who died years before by a pirate attack, but she doesn't know that's she's android. The creator implanted the his daughters memories into the android, she ran away after she was started up.

I also went as far as figuring out what phrases would shut her down and start her up again. Her shut down phrase was 'that which shatters the silence we call noise', whereas 'that which enhances the silence we call music' started her up. She also knew the phrase so she collapsed if she said the first part, but she often used proverbs to get her point across with certain subjects. Never had a love interest for her though.

I know it's been awhile since this thread has seen the light of day, but I did in fact end up creating some OCs/Fan Characters awhile back when I was writing Outlaw Star fanfiction. Most of them ended up being pirates or Outlaws who posed some danger to the crew but were usually killed off by the time everything wrapped up. There's not much in the way of romance in the fics, either- so I hopefully avoided the whole Mary Sue trap.

There also was a fic I was working on that featured a Ctarl Ctarl bounty huntress who was pursuing someone with ties to the Outlaw Star crew. She was more or less supposed to be 'Evil Aisha', but as the story progressed I kept adding some more details to her backstory to better differentiate her from Aisha- she's not as strong as Aisha, but is quicker and has a more keen sense of smell, taller, darker hair, a few years older, grew up the only survivor of her litter on what was basically a remote, off-world penal colony in the empire. Kind of a daddy's girl (since that was her only living relative), vain, arrogant, prideful but sometimes capable of kindness towards others. As a young lady, a plague decimates her homeworld and she's left to her own devices. When she happens across a Terran vessel at the planet's primary spaceport, she learns that Terrans will pay her handsomely to track down a deserter, a skill set which ends up being her ticket out of the Empire. In combat, she relies (overly so) on a quasi-narcotic root that acts as an anesthetic.

Yet much to her chagrin, she finds herself thwarted by both her quarry and the Outlaw Star crew. Her whole clan historically had a pretty acrimonious relationship with the military and aristocrats, so she's not too fond of Aisha in particular.

Even if it's been awhile, I'm somewhat intrigued by some of the Fan Characters/OCs other posters on here had described.
