RE: The Misadventures of a Mantis

I'm going to vent a little myself...

There's some bad and a little bit of good. It's always been my policy to save the best 'til the end. Last night I probably got about two hours' sleep. Insomnia can really catch you off-guard when it enters your life so suddenly. I've had problems with it in the past, and regardless it usually takes at least 30-60 minutes for me to sleep otherwise. I guess I can't call it insomnia now since it's not been happening for long. Funny thing is, it was only a little over a week ago when I was experiencing symptoms of hypersomnia. (Sleeping excessively.)

Truth be told, I've been switched medication lately. One I was on recently but stopped a couple of weeks ago is notorious for somnolence and hypersomnia. A new one I'm on now does have insomnia as a side-effect. I've been back at my parents' house for a week now to recuperate and sort my sleep/the hypersomnia symptoms out. I guess it kinda backfired when I then couldn't sleep at night, even after over 30 hours of being awake. I've not really had much to do here. The few friends I do have in my hometown are elsewhere in the country (uni etc.), so I've seldom gone out during this week. I've felt very fatigued and foggy-headed and found it difficult to do the little uni work I can do on this crappy computer.

Nearly 9.30AM, and I'm starting to get tired. I'm going to have to deal with it. I should be heading back to the university today which is the good part of my post. I've still got to tidy my dorm so I'll be spending at least an hour on that, and I hope should I not be too tired to get a bit of work done. Thursday and Friday are my lecture days, so I'll have missed today's but I hope to get an early night and hopefully properly sleep so I can get up on time for tomorrow's. Though I'm not great friends with my flatmates it'll be nice to have a little social contact. I did say I was going to vent, so you were warned! I think I'll get some porridge soon for breakfast.

It may not look appetising, but it's really, really good stuff.
"It turned out that the ghost was just Mr. Finley, who ran the amusement park. The spooky part is that, as soon as the ghost appeared, the teenagers' dog began to speak! And it spoke in a tortured parody of human speech: 'relp me, Raggy,' it would say. 'I am an abomination and rould re rilled. Rill re, Raggy.'"

Add a bit of sweetener, and perhaps a few blueberries and strawberries, and you've got yourself an excellent breakfast.

RE: The Misadventures of a Mantis

I'm in a decent mood today. Probably because I got a very good night's rest last night and woke up in the morning, naturally. I have my Introduction to Narratology (game narratology) lecture later, so I look forward to that. I might go to the cinema this weekend, though since my flatmates are very, very picky (they have Asperger's), I'll probably go alone. I'm not sure what I'll see yet.

My friends are picky too and usually don't want to go to the movies at all, except one of my friends who usually just drags me along to see one of the newly released movies. I have never gone alone before, but perhaps it may come to that because the one who drags me with him isn't in town anymore much, haha.

I hear that Green Hornet movie is ace though. ;3

RE: The Misadventures of a Mantis

So, I've not really been on here much over the past five days or so. Not good for an admin, but I figured I needed to take a bit of time out and contemplate matters. I have a lot of threads to catch up on! Fortunately the forum hasn't gone up in flames. I was considering a moderator but that will happen eventually. I still haven't gone to the cinema. I ought to go this weekend at last. There isn't a great deal else to report right now. I've been thinking a lot about my degree, though.

I'm not even sure if the IT field was the right field for me in the first place. But I'm in the deep end now and there's no turning back. I should have gone with English, but I just went with what others told me I'm good at. I love computers, but I'm just not finding my course enjoyable. Maybe it's just me. I don't know. Either way, I'm looking at teaching English abroad when I graduate. It'd be a funny thing for a game design student to do, huh? The prerequisite is a degree. That's pretty much it, and you should be a native English speaker. I wouldn't mind teaching in China, Japan, or Taiwan.

    That's my musings for now...

RE: The Misadventures of a Mantis

So, today I've gone to town to buy a few things. Most importantly, since this chair is so damn uncomfortable and makes me slouch a bit, I decided to get this...

    The Misadventures of a Mantis

Ta-daaa! Full leather executive wheelie chair! Fit for an admin, like me. Er, yeah, about the cost... £90, though I think people underestimate the importance of a good chair. It'll arrive here flat-packed on Thursday, so I'll need to spend a little time assembling it, though I'm sure it'll be easy.

Yeah, I spent a little more cash today, too. O_o I probably shouldn't have done, but I finally gave in and got Halo: Reach. I used to be a huge Halo fan back in the halcyon days of Halo, but ever since I was greatly disappointed by Halo 2, I've ended up purchasing each Halo game at least months after its release. I snapped up Halo: Reach for a reasonable price and played it for a couple of hours tonight. It's decent, but I prefer Halo 3 judging by what I've played so far. Like ODST, the characters in the story mode annoy me.

I've downloaded the PCSX2 emulator as I have chosen 24: The Game for PS2 for an assignment on game narratology. I'll work on that soon. I ought to scout my room for painkillers in a minute. I hate headaches. (You'd have to be pretty demented to like them I suppose.)

RE: The Misadventures of a Mantis

Here I am, sat in this comfy executive chair. This is going to be a short entry, however. There isn't really much to say. Unfortunately, for the last couple of days I haven't really done much as for the most part I've been sick. I sure hope I'll get better for tomorrow as I've missed today's lectures as it is. Today I'll most likely work on a particular assignment, and I also want to do some work on the forums. There's only so much I can do though for now, since my web host is being uncooperative. Otherwise, I don't have many plans. Clean my bathroom and probably start work on producing a Halo multiplayer map.
