    Favorite movie shoot outs

The movie gunfight is a time honored cinematic tradition so I figured we'd have a thread dedicated to our favorite movie shoot outs.

I'll start with a one that doesn't get brought up very often...Where Eagles Dare. it's a WWII men on a mission movie starring Clint Eastwood. The scene is Clint getting into a shoot out with nazi soldiers to give one of the characters time to make a transmission...well, it's not really so much of a shoot out as it is Clint Eastwood single handedly massacring the entire nazi army but damn it, it's Clint doing that so it's all good. And to make it even more badass, we even got Clint dual-wielding MP40s at one point!

Another badass shoot out would be the bar shoot out from Desperado. El Mariachi comes in looking for information on a man and...well, considering the thread title, I think you can guess how it ends. It's blessed with crazy John Woo type action with plenty of squibs and destruction and some really bat shit stuff that occurs (Look at him kicking a guy into the air and filling him full of lead that whole time! Holy damn, that's some Devil May Cry shit right there.). Either way, the results are glorious.

Speaking of John Woo, I'd be remiss if I didn't bring up the shoot outs from his movies. It's tough to pick one. I'd have to go with the tea house shoot out in Hard Boiled since it was my first introduction to it. I remember watching it when I was like 13-14 at the time. When Chow Yun-Fat breaks open the bird cage to reveal a bunch of handguns and then the insanity that occurred...holy damn, I flipped. The carnage was just unlike anything I saw at the time. It's chaotic yet somehow it's all easy to follow. Something that modern action seems to have forgotten.

And how about a shoot out from our ol' pal Arnie? Honestly, my pic would be the guerrilla base assault from Predator but, sadly, there doesn't seem to be any good quality clips of it on youtube so I figured I'd go with my runner up which is Commando. This shoot out is like the epitome of the classic 80s one man army shoot out. Machine guns aplenty, rocket launcher action, shotgun action, Arnie miraculously never getting hit. It doesn't get much better than this.

And I think I'll wrap this up with one more. There's a movie called Way of The Gun starring Ryan Philipe and Benecio Del Toro. There's a gun fight that's nicely done. It's a much more grounded, realistic gun fight but the intensity is ever so present. I think you'd enjoy it if you prefer your gunfights to be a little more down to earth.

Anywho, those are some of my favorites. How about yours?
