    Michael Moore's documentaries

What are your opinions on them? They are quite popular here in the U.S. as some teachers even show them. From what I've heard, Moore tends to manipulate things to make his documentaries more entertaining and often they aren't very factual.

I personally haven't had a chance to really deeply fact check them but as far as entertaining goes, generally I don't get bored watching them so I'll give him kudos for that, however, it does seem to show some bias views. For example in the one where he discusses health care, he fails to show the negative aspects behind government issue health care and so on. He also happens to select a Cuban hospital which probably was threatened to do a good job to stay in good light, not sure if they were really as friendly to the general public as they knew they were being filmed and who he was. Had they sent some random people on the street with hidden cameras and whatnot, it would have been more credible. Regardless, I think the points he raises do deserve some merit, as the issues he mentions are important and despite the fact that his films may not actually be too factual, at least he can get the masses thinking a bit, just hopefully they'll do more research on the topic rather than take his word for it.

    I've seen a bit.

The man is definitely entertaining I'll give him that.
He does bring some issues to light in the public forum,
so I guess he does the world some good.

I saw the one about the health care situation. It does bring up a valid issue, I must say.

That's a very good, effective way to describe Moore and his documentaries.

    RE: Michael Moore's documentaries

The only one I've seen is Bowling for Columbine. I think it was a good film, and I agreed with him about the issue of gun control. Perhaps it's just a hunch, but Moore himself seems like kind of a douchebag.

Heard the name, never seen any of the documentaries.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

    RE: Michael Moore's documentaries

Well Moore tries to play off the "I'm just a regular guy card" when in fact, he's loaded so in that sense he is a full of BS but at the same time, of course he has money as his films are fairly successful and prior to that, I believe he already was up there. He does do a good job at appearing so though as you never see him showing off in his documentaries, he does look like a regular person in them which I think is a good strategy regardless as it's easier to relate to them that way.

Also, I see most of you feel the same as me, I do think the hardcore haters are also being a bit too harsh as realistically speaking, not many documentaries about sensitive topics are truly unbiased.
