Thread: Timeless commercials

Remember those commercials that were burned into your mind during breaks in your favorite childhood cartoon, or perhaps the commercials that gave you a good laugh when you first saw them (childhood or not)?

Share the good times here, though please try to limit 1 video per post so the fun can be paced out. If you feel so inclined, say a bit about why you found it amusing or why your memory of the commercial has lasted through adulthood. If you still consider yourself in your childhood (teenagers, perhaps), just give a line or two about why the commercial stood out among the thousands that television bombards people with everyday.

A child with A.D.D not interested in product/service ads + crazed-looking cartoon character + catchy theme + short commercial = full-attention = remembering 10+ years later.

It was also quite the in-joke between me and my older brother for a while.

Now that is one bizarre advert. O_o It makes me hungry though, since I can be a bit of a refrigerator raider myself. XD In fact, I think I'll raid the fridge after I write this post. Ahem, anyway. Hmmmm. Well, one advert that did always stick in my mind as a kid was Um Bongo, a drink from the '90s. They drink it in the Congo.

I've even gone as far as buying an Um Bongo t-shirt. I was surprised to find one on eBay. By the way, nice thread idea but I think it ought to go to Heifong. *moves*

The song just never stopped playing, also when we got these, many people ended up getting hurt and cried. Pillow fights were much more fun :\.

Oh my gosh, Mantis, that commercial is crazy...and catchy. I got a good laugh out of watching it.

Socker boppers...I remember that commercial. They weren't all that great, especially after being pulled out of long-term storage. I don't know why, but they just lose their ability to keep inflated, as I discovered at a friends house.

Never owned it, but the theme was really "cool." The ad only came on once in a blue moon which made it all the more "cool." Yeah, the theme alone made me want to get it, or at least try it.

Haha, I remember the crossfire and the slimjim commercials. To be honest the slim jim commercial always freaked me out when I was a kid.

While I wasn't all that interested in getting it, the theme was catchy and I certainly wouldn't complain if I got them as a gift back then. I had kitchen and cooking props to entertain me, after all. They frequently aired the commercial on those popular kid channels I watched, like Nick and Disney.

America has such amusing adverts.
