    Top 5 Asian Movies

Since I don't watch a gargantuan amount of anime, And usually watch live action stuff, I felt this thread was needed.
By asian, I mean Japanese, Chinese, Korean, etc.
    Here are my top 5

    1. Battle Royale - (2000)

    2. Seven Days' War - (1988)

    3. Old Boy - (2003)

    4. The 36th Chamber of Shaolin - (1978)

    5. Three Outlaw Samurai - (1964)

    RE: Top 5 Asian Movies

There's a good few. I don't think I could put them in any particular order though, but here's 5 I have sitting less than 40cm away from me right now and watch frequently enough:

    1. Ring
    2. The Grudge
    3. House Of Flying Daggers
    4. Bangkok Dangerous
    5. Infernal Affairs

All very good, with 4(!) of them being remade for average Western audiences.

(Honourable mentions do go out to Battle Royale, Audition and Zatoichi.)
"It turned out that the ghost was just Mr. Finley, who ran the amusement park. The spooky part is that, as soon as the ghost appeared, the teenagers' dog began to speak! And it spoke in a tortured parody of human speech: 'relp me, Raggy,' it would say. 'I am an abomination and rould re rilled. Rill re, Raggy.'"

    RE: Top 5 Asian Movies

Image links are broken for #1 and #3. (I suggest using the URL feature of TinyPic since some sites don't allow off-site linking.) I'll admit I haven't watched many Asian films. I might check out a couple of yours though. The last one I watched which I've already seen is Hero. And then I've seen a couple of Takashi Miike's (Japanese) films which aren't really to everyone's tastes. (They fit into the mind**** thriller/horror category.) They were Audition and Ichi the Killer, the first being awesome.

Aside from live action anime stuff, that's pretty much it. Oh yeah, more horror like the original Ring/Ju-On: The Grudge and there's also Dark Water. As you can tell I need to watch some other stuff.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

    RE: Top 5 Asian Movies

There, sorted out the broken image links.
I think it's a shame when asian films get watered down and adapted for western audiences. The live action version of Akira coming may just cross the line, and send me insane.

@Mantis, been meaning to check out Ichi The Killer.
Speaking of Akira, If you like the Psychological thriller/horror type movies, might I reccomend "Tetsuo"

Akira reminded me of it, because the character shares the same name as Akira's antagonist. And the whole metal into the body thing also happened to Akira's Tetsuo.

Not as such, no. It's technically not an Asian film at all, it just has a lot of Chinese in it.

Nothing wrong with that, haha. Is a film without artistic value even worth watching? well, I guess if only for a cheap laugh.
I almost forgot about Fearless. I own the DVD of it, too. also, I'll probably check out your other favorites.
