What are you about to watch?

This thread is for posting movies/tv shows that you are about to watch or are seeing soon. You can also include why you are going to watch it. (e.g. you heard a good review). This thread is not for stuff that you have just seen. Mantis already has a thread for that.
Now. the movie I'm about to watch.

    Bicycle Sighs (1991)
    Original title: Jitensha toiki

    Synopsis from imdb:

Under-achievers Shiro and Keita manage to survive delivering newspapers. They are otherwise on their own since their peers had all left for university three years earlier. Passing the entrance exam is the main problem. Shiro, however, is more interested in finishing a super-8 movie they had begun in secondary school than studying. But Keita feels more pressure on him to pass, and can't share Shiro's enthusiasm. To further complicate Keita's life, he hears that Kyoko, his ex-girlfriend, is coming back for a visit from her studies in Tokyo.

This is a Japanese movie that I really like the look of. The main reason I thought I'd give it a look is because it was available for for freeleech on a certain private tracker. Rarely do freeleech downloads from this website interest me, as they are often romantic films. I'll let you guys know what I thought of it. After this, I'll probably watch a bit of Kung Fu. I might even post about that too

RE: What are you about to watch?

I think the "current anime series" in the Ctarl-Ctarl Empire (I'll change its title to include films) is more suitable for the anime side of this. (After all, it is the anime section of the board.) So I edited that part out of the thread description. I hope you don't mind. Although live action films based on anime are okay.

I must say what you posted does sound interesting, so I'll have to check it out when I hear what you think. I think next I will watch Black Swan when I get the time. It has been compared to an anime film I love called Perfect Blue. The synopsis from Rotten Tomatoes doesn't sound like the usual thing I'd watch, but I wouldn't mind trying something new. (Especially given the comparisons with Perfect Blue.)

A psychological thriller set in the world of New York City ballet, BLACK SWAN stars Natalie Portman as Nina, a featured dancer who finds herself locked in a web of competitive intrigue with a new rival at the company. BLACK SWAN takes a thrilling and at times terrifying journey through the psyche of a young ballerina whose starring role as the duplicitous swan queen turns out to be a part for which she becomes frighteningly perfect. BLACK SWAN follows the story of Nina, a ballerina in a New York City ballet company whose life, like all those in her profession, is completely consumed with dance. She lives with her retired ballerina mother Erica who zealously supports her daughter's professional ambition. When artistic director Thomas Leroy decides to replace prima ballerina Beth MacIntyre for the opening production of their new season, Swan Lake, Nina is his first choice. But Nina has competition: a new dancer, Lily, who impresses Leroy as well. Swan Lake requires a dancer who can play both the White Swan with innocence and grace, and the Black Swan, who represents guile and sensuality. Nina fits the White Swan role perfectly but Lily is the personification of the Black Swan. As the two young dancers expand their rivalry into a twisted friendship, Nina begins to get more in touch with her dark side with a recklessness that threatens to destroy her.
I'd be interested to come to my own conclusions about the similarities between this and Perfect Blue, as with Firefly and Outlaw Star, the producer has claimed Perfect Blue was not an inspiration despite the similarities.

This is next on my docket.
    It's a long one though.

RE: What are you about to watch?

I'm considering watching the first series of Man vs. Food. I saw an episode a while back and I found it more entertaining than Epic Meal Time, because at least the guy from MvF is actually shown to completely consume his massive meals, whereas in Epic Meal Time you always see them just take a bite of the food but never swallow it, since it always cuts to another scene. For all you know they could be a bunch of pansies and spit the food out behind the scenes. And what a waste of bacon that would be.
