    24

In all the years this forum has been around, I don't think I've made a thread about this TV show which is funny. While Outlaw Star is my favourite anime, by far 24 is my favourite live action TV show. To me, nothing beats a good Jack Bauer Power Hour! I guess I never assumed I'd actually find another 24 fan here since I've always thought it's a generally overlooked show. For instance (despite it being much more recent) so many people seem to have watched Breaking Bad, but the majority of people I've tried talking about 24 to have never watched it, or tried to but didn't give it enough of a chance.

I guess I can agree that its writing quality isn't up to par when compared to the most famous TV shows, and over the many seasons 24 has produced a lot of its own clichés. I mostly love the show's characters and its real-time format. So, any other 24 fans here? Anyone tried watching it but stopped? Favourite characters, season, etc.? (Remember to use spoiler tags when necessary.)

You'd only find a scene like this one on 24...

    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I was never into the show but I know a few people who were when it was "big". I think it became popular because of the cliche factors in it. I didn't realize the show was started in 2001. I seen something mentioned about bringing the show back. Is that true?

I bought the complete series a few months ago, but only just started the third season due to being sidetracked by other shows and stuff. The first season was amazing and I can see why it took off. The second was kind of a step down, especially since they insisted on keeping Kim around when she did absolutely nothing for the whole season.

It was. They sort of rebooted it with a new show called "Legacy" which featured a new protagonist. It probably received lower ratings because so many fans wanted Jack Bauer back, but overall the show wasn't amazing. Live Another Day (known as season nine) from 2014 was decent, but Kiefer Sutherland has been working on Designated Survivor and often says he's not interested in reprising his role in 24.

The only way of continuing the story is through media like novels. But I'm sure you'd enjoy the TV show if you gave it a try.

Yeah, that's how most people feel. I think after a while I started to see more of the good points in the second season but certainly at first it didn't meet my expectations. You should love the third season though. It's regarded as one of the best—if not the best—across the fan base.

I've been rewatching 24 for a while now and I'm currently on the seventh season, another one that's often in the "top three". I just wish the first season wasn't underrated for some odd reason.

That's one way to make a person shit their pants.

I used to watch 24; that was when I was pretty young though. Jack Bauer killed it back then and I was not at disappointed when he didn't feature in 24 Legacy because he made a come back in Designated Survivor. In my opinion, Erick, the leader of the Rangers in 24 Legacy did a pretty good job in his role and actually made my experience better than 24.
