I heard that Will Smith was cast as the genie. It's been a
long time since I've watched Aladdin but I just can't see Will playing that role. It just isn't right. He's a good actor for the right characters. Stubborn I am, but I think I'm going to leave my vague childhood memories of Aladdin untarnished. As for The Lion King, a live action version of that is just stupid.
I wasn't a huge Lion King fan as a kid (I think that's one of the Disney films that's more liked by girls) but it was enjoyable. It's a good animation. An all-animal animation, so the idea of it being live action is just ridiculous to me. Whatever happened to Disney making more
ANIMATIONS? I don't mean CGI, but beautiful 2D. It's been almost a decade since they've done one, and there wasn't that much in the decade before then.
I wish I could just say good things about Studio Ghibli. They certainly held onto good animation longer than Disney (I mean beyond the 3D transitioning) but I think those days are over.
How long until they're doing live action too?
