    Aladdin "remake?"

I loved the original movie, the animated one. I also loved Beauty and the Beast as well as the Lion King.

With that being said, I have not seen any of the live action remakes. Aladdin will be out soon here and the Lion King is going to be out later this year, I think.

Has anyone here seen any of the live action remakes?

How do you think Aladdin will do?

I heard that Will Smith was cast as the genie. It's been a long time since I've watched Aladdin but I just can't see Will playing that role. It just isn't right. He's a good actor for the right characters. Stubborn I am, but I think I'm going to leave my vague childhood memories of Aladdin untarnished. As for The Lion King, a live action version of that is just stupid.

I wasn't a huge Lion King fan as a kid (I think that's one of the Disney films that's more liked by girls) but it was enjoyable. It's a good animation. An all-animal animation, so the idea of it being live action is just ridiculous to me. Whatever happened to Disney making more ANIMATIONS? I don't mean CGI, but beautiful 2D. It's been almost a decade since they've done one, and there wasn't that much in the decade before then.

I wish I could just say good things about Studio Ghibli. They certainly held onto good animation longer than Disney (I mean beyond the 3D transitioning) but I think those days are over.

How long until they're doing live action too?
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

Lol that Ghibli video looks like a PS3 game. I'm getting Eternal Sonata vibes.

I don't think anyone can outdo Robbin Williams. They have done remakes of other movies the man was in and they just weren't nearly as good. He may not be with us anymore but I grew up watching him in movies and he outranks a lot of actors and comedians for me till this day.

Over 20 years later and we still can't get better looking CGI shows than Beast Wars.

You're not aiming high enough. If they really want people to shit with rage, then they should remake Song of the South. That would probably start riots in the streets.

On topic, I don't think this is going to be anything special. The main thing that a lot of these Disney live-action remakes is they don't do anything interesting with it. If you're gonna remake something, you should at least get someone with a creative vision to give it a different twist from the original. I know they kind of did that with Maleficent and I heard the new Dumbo is like that to a degree, but stuff like The Jungle Book, Beauty and The Beast, and from the looks of it, Aladdin aren't doing anything interesting. It's just the same movie that was made years ago, just with live-action and some minor deviations. If you're gonna remake a disney movie, why not do a remake of a movie that perhaps didn't live up to it's potential like The Sword in The Stone or The Black Cauldron (Speaking of which, I really ought to read the book series that was based on. Heard a lot of good things about it)

Honestly, Aladdin doesn't look that horrible but I have a feeling that it's just going to be forgettable in the end.

I don't know why so many people get offended from older movies or shows. It was of the time. It wouldn't fly today but I know a lot of people still get bent out of shape of stuff like this. Trying to take down statues that they suddenly find offensive. I don't get it. Authors won't even get published if their stories don't contain diverse enough characters.
