    Favorite Star Trek Series

With the 50th anniversary coming up next year, might be a good time to recall what people enjoyed about this sci-fi franchise. If you like any Star Trek series, which one was your favorite and why?

For me personally, my favorite would be Deep Space Nine. It's cast I feel was better developed and the series had a more serious tone which made it more engaging to me. I also felt that on the whole, the plot worked better then just alien of the week or being lost in space. But these are my opinions. I like every Star Trek to some degree.

The Original Series hands down. My dad practically grew up on Star Trek (he was old enough to watch it first run) and he's been a big Trekkie since he was a little kid. He got me and my brother into it when we were kids too, and though I'm not a big trekkie like he is, I still love the first series. Though Next Generation is amazing too, so I'll give credit where credit is due.

Dude! My dad was in the same boat as yours. The only episode he didn't like was the hippie episode. He had me watch it with him just to show how bad it was. I've never forgiven him for that.

If I had to pick one series, Next Generation takes the cake. In an optimal setting, however, I'd take a page out of Leonard's book from The Big Bang Theory and say "Original Series over Next Generation, but Picard over Kirk."
A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him. What awaits him down the path he will then have to choose; the boy doesn't always know. At some point the boy then becomes an adult, and learns what he was able to become. Joy and sadness will forever accompany this. He is confronted with a choice; when this happens, does he bid his past farewell in his heart? Once a boy becomes an adult, he can no longer go back to being a boy; the boy is now a man. Only one thing can be said: "A boy has the right to dream.". For those endless possibilities are stretched out before him.

We must remember...all men were once boys.

I really like Star Trek: Enterprise. You know, the one with Scott Bacula and his dog. And the whole Federation thing just starting out. It`s a real shame that it was canned after only 3 seasons. I think the acting and the whole story was top notch. Hopefully they will bring Star Trek back in one for or another for Television. I`m not really a big fan of the Reboot movies, although Chris Pine really hits the spot as Captain Kirk.

Perhaps unfair since I probably haven't seen enough of TNG yet (only the first dozen episodes, so maybe my opinion might change later on) but so far I prefer TOS. Say what you will about the TOS being silly and campy (not that TNG is much better) but at least it had a much more memorable cast, whether it's the main trio of Kirk, Spock and Bones, or even tertiary characters like Scotty, Sulu and Chekov, they were all brimming with personality and had great chemistry together. In TNG the only real standout characters are Picard and Data, everyone else is extremely bland and forgettable, at least when compared to the original crew.
