What is your favorite television series?

What is your favorite television series? It can be either live action or anime, a long-running show or a mini series, doesn't matter. Just name your desert island pick.

For me, it's Malcolm in the Middle. I fucking love this show. Embarrassingly, I've probably watched it front to back about a dozen times. I don't know why, it just never gets old. The show perfectly encompasses the feeling of being an adolescent boy in the late 90s to early 2000s, and it reminds me of a simpler time that I always wish I could reach out and touch once again. Nostalgia aside, it's also got hilarious characters, great writing and a format which never sees the same scenario play out twice. Great show.

Honestly, I don't watch a lot of TV since I mainly stick to films but there's a bunch of shows I used to watch that I felt were really cool.

You see, once upon a time, MTV produced a lot of really cool shit. I know that's hard to believe but I'm old enough to be around when MTV was at it's prime. One of the cooler shows they've made was something called Liquid Television. It was essentially a series of animated shorts consisting of various styles. It was awesome to see the creativity that was on display, showing off animated styles that you don't really see anymore. It's a time capsule that showed how beautifully irreverent the early to mid 90s were.

Also on MTV was a show called The Maxx. It was based on a comic essentially about a homeless superhero and some the weird shit that he gets into. I don't have a lot of memories of it other than I remember liking the style and how surreal it got at times.

As for non-MTV stuff, I loved Spawn the animated series. I had a phase where I was really into Spawn as a character and the animated series was cool as hell. What made it cool was it wasn't really a superhero show. In fact, they depict Spawn and this really scary fucker that you rarely see in full. Usually, he's like a silhouete, with his big red cape and green eyes popping out. When he goes after bad guys, it's less epic superhero battles and more like something you'd see in a horror movie.

They uploaded the series on youtube which I highly recommend checking out.

For live action stuff, I loved MadTV. The skits they produced was pure gold and I would even argue was funnier than Saturday Night Live. There were just so many memorable skits that never fail to make me laugh.

Lastly, there was a TV mini series that aired way back in the day called Merlin which had Sam Neil (An actor who I feel is highly underrated) which detailed the origins of the character. I thought it was a really well done show with a great cast and was a cool take on the King Arthur legend.

Whoa, I did not expect this many goodies in one post. I'm going to have to check out some of this stuff. Merlin in particular sounds right up my alley -- I'm a sucker for a good 90s fantasy show.

    The Maxx
Holy shit, I remember this. Not the show so much, but the comic it was based off of. I remember my older brother had what you might call a teaser issue of the comic that served as an advertisement before its release. I remember being fascinated by it for some reason, which probably wasn't a good thing because it was extremely violent, disturbing and sexually-charged. Never thought I'd see this purple man again.

On the note of Liquid Television, there was actually a great show I liked watching that aired on there, called "Aeon Flux". Not sure if you've seen it yourself, but it's kind of like a fucked up Perfect Dark: some badass spy chick goes on a mission and usually ends up dying or getting tortured in terrible ways. If I recall, there was no dialogue either. Really cool show despite being totally bananas. Animated by the same guy who did Rugrats, too. Go figure.

For me it would be InuYasha. If you had imposed a live-action rule, it would be F.R.I.E.N.D.S (let me take a moment for the 2nd time on OSN to point out that the title of the show is an acronym and is never elaborated upon).

I can't really pick one. I mean there are a handful of shows that I can go back and watch over and over again but it doesn't mean they were all that great lol

I guess I would say that as of now, it would be Dragon Ball (the entire series), Mr. Robot, Futurama, and Breaking Bad. This is just off the top of my head though. There are so many others I would add in but then it would end up becoming a favorites list more than a singular choice.
