    Godzilla: King of the Monsters

I originally had no intentions of watching this but a friend of mine invited me to watch so I thought "What the hell" and went to see it this past weekend. It's pretty good. Most of the cast was just kind of bland and forgettable. I don't even remember the names. However, if you want to watch a Godzilla movie for the human characters then this is the part of the post where you need to feel ashamed of yourself. It's about the monsters beating each other and hoo boy, do they ever. It was fun to see the major monsters duke it out and it was great to see monsters like Rodan and Mothra (Who doesn't have those tiny twin Japanese chicks who talk in unison. Bah fooey!) and they were translated very well sticking true to their original designs. If you dig Japanese kaiju movies then you'll probably get a kick out of this.

I don't think this has come up before on the forum, but I'm a pretty huge Godzilla fan (i think Mantis might be the only one who knows this, since we watched Shin Godzilla together via SyncLounge). I'll be going to see this one on Wednesday with 2 friends (so I appreciate the lack of spoilers in your post), but I'm a bit worried seeing as it's an American series film. I think Godzilla 2014 only had the monsters on-screen for 2 mins 15 seconds throughout the 2 hour runtime, so I was concerned that this movie would be 98% human drama again, glad to hear that the movie focuses more on the kaiju this time around. That being said, I see a lot of criticism of Godzilla movies of the 2010's having too much human drama....have these people SEEN the 50's - 90's Godzilla movies? The kaiju battles are a small SMALL minority of the film's runtime. Classic Godzilla has the classic Gundam problem of having a cool hook (kaiju or robots, respectively) but mainly featuring dudes talking in boardrooms. I'll be giving it a watch either way, I grew up on this shit and I'm probably gonna follow kaiju films forever.
