What are some popular TV series you just don't get?

What are some popular TV series that are heavily enjoyed by the general public that you just don't get in terms of how people find the program any good?

For awhile, I really enjoyed Family Guy. I remember watching it in my mid-teen years into my early 20's. Then I just stopped watching. I lost interest. I tried watching some of the newer episodes and they just aren't good anymore. Maybe I outgrew them? I don't know how people go on and on about how the show is great.

+1 With the Walking Dead. We have tons of movies depicting zombies and the Walking Dead for me is like a zombie movie stretched into a TV series. And I'm just not into the zombie genre.

I like The Walking Dead, but it's overrated and has a good handful of weak seasons. Meanwhile, a lot of shows that have the substance TWD lacks are completely ignored.

Agreed with Family Guy, and South Park for that matter. I found King of the Hill far more entertaining. I think with the former two, when you've seen one season you already know the formula and you've basically seen them all. The Simpsons on the other hand was exceptional for its first decade, but then they gradually ran out of ideas. Fortunately soon after then they produced Futurama.

There's one popular anime I don't really get, but I shouldn't say it.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I'm with you on that! Five seconds of both (combined) was more than enough for me.

As for shows that should be more popular: Takeshi's Castle.

Takeshi's Castle is indeed entertaining, and I firmly believe the concept of the show before was unique and a game changer. The production was excellent and well-thought. There are episodes available on YouTube if you feel nostalgic.
