    Top 5 favorite movies

I noticed that this board doesn't have a favorite movies thread. I figured that I ought to fix that, so here we share what our 5 favorite movies of all time are! I'll start with my list.

    5. Manhunter
    4. Taxi Driver
    3. Die Hard
    2. Hard-Boiled
    1. Army of Darkness

I'm ashamed to say that aside from Die Hard and Army of Darkness, I haven't seen most of those. I need to watch more movies. I had to really scratch my head for this, but here's mine:

    5. Apocalypse Now
    4. For a Few Dollars More
    3. Drive
    2. Evil Dead 2
    1. Mad Max: Fury Road

Ah, you have seen Drive! I really need to see that movie. I've been meaning to watch that movie for a long time but never had the chance. I listened to some of the music from the soundtrack and it's some good stuff. I hate to admit this, but I never seen Apocalypse Now. I feel ashamed as it's the quintesential vietnam movie after Full Metal Jacket and Platoon.

    In no particular order:
Toy Story trilogy (one of the very few movies I enjoyed now as an adult as much as I did as a kid)
    Die Hard (best Christmas movie)
The Lord of the Rings trilogy (even better than the books in my opinion)
The Godfather (definitely lives up to the legacy, perfect in every way)
Trainspotting (A classic coming of age story dealing with addiction and friendship)

    Honorable mentions:
Total Recall (I don't care what anyone says I love this movie, it's so goddamn hilarious and action-packed not unlike Outlaw Star)
Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan (still the high point of the franchise)
The original Star Wars trilogy (okay maybe they're a bit overrated these days but I still love them)
The 5th Element (the closest we'll ever get to an Outlaw Star movie)

I saw the theatrical edition not too long ago, while it is good I don't know if I would put it above FMJ or Platoon.

Hell yeah on Total Recall! While it's not my favorite Arnie movie (It's a tie between Predator and Conan the Barbarian), it's and absolute joy to watch. It's also directed by Paul Verhoven, who directed the excellent Robocop and Starship Troopers. He does a great job combining ultra violence with a darkly comic tone.

Funny you bring up the Outlaw Star and The Fifth Element comparison because that's what I thought when I first saw Outlaw Star. Some of the designs are similar and I swear there were even moments in the Outlaw Star soundtrack that sounded reminisent of the music from that movie. It's another fantastic movie. Really should rewatch it one of these days.

Out of curiosity, what would make you put FMJ and Platoon over Apocalypse Now? I'm interested in your thoughts on that.

Platoon I thought had a better writing and execution than Apocalypse Now, AN I thought dragged on a bit too long and most of it wasn't really that necessary to the story or the themes. I'm well aware that I'm in the minority here.

    Full Metal Jacket because

I love movies and there are tons of great films that I really like so it's a bit hard to choose my top list. But even so, here are some of my favorite movies. I'll sort them by genre, in no particular order:

    Romance
    1. A Walk to Remember
    2. The Notebook
    3. Notting Hill
    4. Il Mare (Korean Film)
    5. Windstruck (Korean Film)

    Mind Blowing
    1. Donnie Darko
    2. Basic
    3. Coherence
    4. Triangle
    5. Frequency

Well I have a lot more but there goes some of them. If you haven't seen some of those then I'll definitely recommend them

I do have a ton of favorite movies that I do watch from time to time. I won't go into a lot of details and I would note them not in order of what I like the best.
I really love watching Pursuit of Happyness, it gets me motivated all the time. Another one is The Usual Suspects where I first watched Kevin Spacey and my mind got really fu**ed up. NEct one is The Admiral, it's a Korean movie that is really good, the main actor is the same actor in the next movie which is Old Boy. And for the last one it owuld be Hello Ghost, also a Korean movie. I don't wanna spoil it but it is pretty boring from start to somewhere around the ending but, nah! just watch it! LOL!
