How do you watch your videos?

As I said in another thread, around a week ago my projector died. It had been acting up occasionally for several months. Buying a new bulb gave it a bright last six months, but alas, it now continues to project in video heaven. F.

That was six and a half years of great film and TV. Projectors aren't perfect but they do have their obvious unrivaled advantages. Screen size isn't everything though, even when video is at full HD. But good lord, I didn't know what I was missing out on. For the longest time I'd written 4K off as some kind of fad, but I simply hadn't seen it before.

Now I have a 4K Sony Bravia TV that I got a great deal on. I started watching Blue Planet II at 4K (as well as some Black Mirror) and the detail has blown me away. So long as there is 4K available I'll never be watching at 1080p now. Sure, it's had a slow start, but 4K TVs are really cheap these days. I just never imagined it would look this good. The difference between full HD (1080p) and ultra HD (4K) is night and day, similar to how I feel about resorting to DVD quality instead of HD.

Honestly, I'm glad I hadn't got into 4K until now. It's finally at reasonable consumer cost and has a library that's started to gain momentum.

Of course there are the polar opposite oddballs who still watch VHS tapes. (They do exist.) I'll never understand that. 56k internet connections are also still a thing.

Have you also jumped on the 4K train, or how else are you watching?

Side note: I saw some 4K anime. It's really something.

Welcome to the club! I got a 4K TV in...I wanna say Spring 2017? They were a bit more pricey at the time but I think I still got a very good deal on mine as it was a no-name brand on Black Friday. There's more to it than just resolution though, you'll have a worse experience with a 4K TV than a 1080p if your refresh rate isn't good. The refresh rate on mine isn't stellar, so when i watch or play certain things and there's a lot of motion it blurs a bit.

I definitely like it a lot.

I'm still not on 4k. I will eventually get a 4k monitor when I do another PC upgrade but I don't need it right now. I have a standard HD TV that has dust on it. I don't think I used it since 2018 lol I just watch stuff at my desk these days. I have an Acer monitor, can't remember the model number.
