    DOOM

If you haven't played this, then there's something wrong with you.

If you have played it but you don't like it, then there's also something wrong with you.

So then, DOOM. The FPS that really started things, and the most ported game of all time; this has seen more re-releases on the various platforms than anything else, ever. And rightly so.

    With that said; discuss.
"It turned out that the ghost was just Mr. Finley, who ran the amusement park. The spooky part is that, as soon as the ghost appeared, the teenagers' dog began to speak! And it spoke in a tortured parody of human speech: 'relp me, Raggy,' it would say. 'I am an abomination and rould re rilled. Rill re, Raggy.'"

    RE: DOOM

Ah, Doom. I remember playing over LAN with the shareware version of Doom 95 back in high school. It was good fun. Nowadays I'll play Skulltag sometimes and occasionally the Xbox Live Arcade ports of Doom I/II, or the Pandora port. Whilst Doom wasn't the first FPS out there (not by a long shot), it was certainly the one to bring FPS into the mainstream, which modern CoD gamers etc. can't seem to appreciate.

    What a shame.

    RE: DOOM

Heh, I grew up as the only kid on my block with no N64 so I didn't have Doom as a part of my childhood. Just a summer or two ago, my friend got the Xbox Live Arcade version and we both found it quite enjoyable. We spent most of that summer just playing between Doom 1,2, and 3.
This is my signature, isn't it great?

    RE: DOOM

Even though it's greatly aged by now, Doom is probably still my favorite FPS. I have literally been playing it since elementary school (and whaddya know, I've never gone on a murder spree).

    RE: DOOM

I gotta say, as much as I loved that game, Duke Nukem was by far my favorite. Heretic was another one that scored high marks.

Doom really brought gaming on a PC, in general, to the mainstream. It was because of that game that I got into playing games.
