    Diablo II: Resurrected

I briefly talked about this with Mark during our Friday get together but I think I should post on this here. Blizzard recently announced this as a remaster of the original game and it looks pretty good. My only real complaint is some of the character designs particularly for the Amazon (I read someone's comments on her was she is the Ama'amazon which I think is an apt description) but beyond that it seems to be keeping the essence of the original art design. Besides, you'll have the option to switch it to the OG graphics if you're not digging the new graphics. Still, I'm going to wait and see since the Warcraft III remastered turned out to be a disaster. I'll probably just stick to the original game and maybe get the remaster assuming that Blizzard doesn't screw this up which, given the shit they've done in recent years, I wouldn't be surprised if they do. The announcement did make me want to install Diablo II again. God, I loved that game. The original was my jam, being a paladin and bringing divine justice to the demon horde, so even if the remaster sucks, we still have the old one to fall back on (Knock on wood).

I'd consider playing some classic Diablo II with you. I tried the first one once but didn't enjoy it. I don't really care for loot games, especially because the guy I was playing it with just kept running ahead of me. I was still reading the information on my items and figuring out what things did and he was always yelling at me to get a move on. I fear that the person I played with colored my perception of the game. When playing RPGs (not just JRPGs, note the distinction. This is rare!!!) I take my time. I talk to NPCs. If I pick up a weapon, I open my menu and compare it immediately. My brief experience with Diablo was almost anxiety-inducing. Can it be taken at any pace? Is there a gameplay-related reason to sprint through?

I couldn't tell ya why, but last night I had a dream that we were playing Diablo II (although it looked nothing like Diablo). It looked a lot like Drakengard & had a very over-the-top cutscene budget. These were some very high-budget, crisp, 8K Final Fantasy looking dudes & gals. I remember the main guy (I know, there's no main guy in Diablo) had red hair and wore a headband like WANDER from Shadow of the Colossus. When they came upon the monsters & enemy boss he said "I'm a silent protagonist, I don't have time to talk to the likes of you!" and hit that guy with a spear then kicked it in deeper. The other guy I remember had short white hair. The last one was a short chick with huge, thick green hair. Imagine a late-80's to mid-90's hair explosion like Melfina or Jim.

I know this is a double-post and adds nothing to the discussion of the real Diablo II, but I thought it was interesting that this thread influenced my dreams and it was quite the vivid & memorable one at that. Your post led to fresh diablo II content! Not to mention, my dream was infinitely better than the remaster will be.
