The event that few people seem to care about. I guess these games do have an audience but I never understood paying full price for the same old shit every year with the only changes being an updated roster and a few minor bells and whistles.

I've been boycotting EA for years and I still watched just to see how bad it was. One or two of the games LOOK good visually but beyond that it's just more of the same.

For anyone who cares, here's the TL;DR:
"Out of the ground, raze all greenery with flame! Fire2!"

If it's not a sequel to Black, then I'm not interested.

There are many many reasons why EA has been voted worst company to work for for many years in a row.
I haven't bought an EA game in years. I bought The Sims 3 a few years ago with one expansion, and refuse to give them any more of my money.

Honest question: How can anyone be disappointed by EA?
Do people actually hold EA up to standards?
Any year where people don't hate EA would be a miracle, and likely usher in Jesus's second coming.
After He gets the special 1% chance "Jesus Come Back" sticker out of a loot box.
Really, though. How can you be disappointed by EA? Everyone should expect nothing but mediocrity and greediness from them. They lost any sense of integrity during the W Bush Administration.

The big bummer was that, during the PS3/Xbox 360 era, it looked like they were on the upswing again. They were experimenting with new titles like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge. It looked like they were branching out and coming up with really cool shit. After that though, they dropped the ball immensely. Dead Space 3 was a disappointment that they turned into a full on action game because EA didn't want to people to get too scared playing a horror game (Yes, that was seriously their reason). I haven't played the Mirror's Edge 2 but I heard that it's a step down from the first. And then after that came all the loot box, pay to win anti-consumer shit and it all went downhill from there.

I agree with the sentiment towards EA but I feel like the only one who gets a twinge of melancholy because back in the day, they made some really good games. They brought us Command & Conquer, Shadow of the Beast, the Medal of Honor games among others. They made some really good shit back then and it makes me think of this ad from back then.

Man, I'd hate to be one of the guys in this ad who see their company go from a promising game studio into a souless entity that's more interested in milking franchises and squeezing money out of their consumers.

Perhaps theres hope. Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order was actually pretty good (And probably the best thing to come out of Disney Star Wars) and there was a remastered of Command & Conquer that contained the first game along with Red Alert. I haven't played too much of it but from what little I played, it's actually a solid remaster and isn't some Warcraft 3: Reforged situation. Maybe they are finally learning...ah, who am I kidding? They're probably gonna do some bullshit down the line.

I'm more of a F.E.A.R guy, but I get where you're coming from

Command and Conquer takes me back. I remember playing Red Alert with my brother a lot. (We basically strategized together l). And I remember actually liking one of the Medal of Honor games, even though I'm jot a fan of FPSs over all. I'm pretty sure it was European Assault. I remember genuinely feeling stressed playing the Normandy mission
Medal of Honor used to be a great representation of WWI&2, but now...its just generic FPS fluff, or as Yahtee calls it: "SpunkGargleWeewee".

Jedi Fallen Order is a good step in the right direction, but that step was helped with a shove from Disney. Disney forced theirnhand witha lot of the "improvements" to Battlefront 2.

And speaking if Command and Conquer, I'd be remiss not to include the greatest FMV cutscene in video game history.

I honestly think that F.E.A.R. is one of the best first-person shooters of all time. When I got it close to its release date in 2005 (or maybe 2006) on my then-new PC I was absolutely blown away. Innovative gameplay, smart AI, Matrix-like slow motion and some of the best graphics of its time. That and Condemned were two of my favourite games at the time and I still think F.E.A.R. has aged well.

I fully agree, it's held up remarkably well. This ties back into something Starwind & I talk about nearly every Friday that we do an anime stream together: I don't care much about gameplay. It just goes to show how strong F.E.A.R.'s gameplay was that I remember it being a standout. My enjoyment of a game often weighs heavily on the side of story, characters and art style. It can be clunky as hell and I just won't care if I like the characters or if they are in an anime style I like. I was interested in F.E.A.R. 100% exclusively due to the paranormal elements but I found myself surprised by how smoothly it handled over and over.
