Why are some feminist so against female figures in video games?

I watched a video the other day, I can't remember the woman's name, but she broke down how sexist and ugly video game makers are for portraying women as nothing more than symbols of sex. Like, I get that some designs are a bit perverted but most of them have reason. She even tore apart Bayonetta and that character was made by a woman!!

Agreed. People get offended by anything these days. As far as I see it, It's a fictional character, so just relax and have fun with it! I highly doubt developers are sexist, nothing wrong with letting your imagination go wild a little bit.

I like to think their disgust is driven by envy. They envy the pretty women who can get by with their good looks and their graces, and so they think that if they can't have beauty, then nobody else can.

Sometimes I think of some feminists as a kind of female incel. They couldn't get the knight in shining armour they always dreamed of growing up, so they get mad at the successful and attractive (bonus points if they're white and even more if they're right-wing) women who have handsome boyfriends or husbands while also blaming men for all the things wrong with the world! Woe is me.

As for the main question, well, I think it boils down to the same kind of thing discussed. They'd feel more comfortable if all the women in video games were beluga whales. It's not like men in video games are never seen as sex symbols.

Look at that ass on Batman. He's basically naked here.

Just for the record, everything that everyone has said so far isnít about real feminists because there is absolutely nothing wrong with feminism. What everyone has been talking about so far are pot stirrers hiding behind the guise of feminism so that they can start arguments and cause controversy.

The physiques and costumes of heroes like Batman and Superman are more about a fulfillment of male power fantasies than they are about sexualization. On the other end of the spectrum you have Power Girl with a costume made to showcase her tits, and Black Canary who fights crime in high heels and fishnet stockings. Itís better now, but in the gold and silver ages, male super heroes were designed to emulate Greek Gods, whereas the women were designed to be pin up girls. The point is that super heroes are a bad example to use.

Itís getting better. The Mass Effect games were a huge step forward. As far as I know the new Tomb Raiders have Laura focused on being a good character more than being a sexual object. However, there are still games like Lollipop Chainsaw and Bayonetta, where every aspect of the female protagonists were designed to be sexual. Iím not saying this is a bad thing or that it needs to stop, but to the best of my knowledge I canít think of a male video game character that was designed that way.

    TLDR

Equality isnít getting rid of sexualization in video games.

We need games with male characters as sexualized as Lollipop Chainsaw and Bayonetta.

We need a Wonder Woman game with as much effort put in to it as the Arkham Games.

Off topic, but Jesus christ, that is hilarious. I'm actually playing through Arkham Knight and I never tried this skin. I didn't realise it was so skin tight, hahaha! I know what skin I'm using for the next few missions.

I see the point you're making, but come on, this extends far beyond superhero booty.

Left-wing groups need a lot of things, but like I asked in a previous thread: Now that women have the opportunity to develop games outside of the alleged toxic environment of many workplaces, where are the indie games? This is a perfect opportunity for feminism as oftentimes indie games are still a big thing today, so why are they failing to seize that opportunity?

Also, please refrain from double-posting. It's okay as a thread update in Starwind & Hawking or for some threads in Tenrei, but for discussions just edit your previous reply if you wish to add to it.

Why are indie games not doing that? Fear. More often than not, people in the industry have to pander to their main demographic. Itís not like it used to be. Before, if a company puts out a bad game, they could just try again. Nowadays, games take so much time, effort, and money to make, if your game doesnít sell you risk going bankrupt.
