Do you think GTA V will get any blame for the riots in the US?

I am asking only because of some memes I have been seeing that pointed out how the game was made free not too long before this mess happened. I think the riots are the result of many things at this point but mostly down to criminals and jerks taking advantage of protestors gathering. Either way, I know video games have been blamed a lot in recent years for violence and gun shootings so I am just wondering if anyone thinks this will be turned around on the game industry when people calm down.

I prefer it the other way around. I liked it better when somebody's actions were partially to blame for a lot of the elements in GTA!

Someone might try to draw that connection, yes. In fact I think we will see tons of "news" organizations spinning their gears trying to blame the riots on anything but violent people and Antifa. Games are a convenient scapegoat for the media. Semi-related, but have you noticed that nearly every headline is still referring to these people as "protesters"? Do you see a protest happening in most of these situations? I think the protesters and rioters should be separated within coverage of the event. Protesting is 100% A-okay with me even if I disagree with the message but I'd like riots and looting to be called out for what it is so I can disavow them in particular. My mom lives in Philly and they've even been doing damage to Chinatown. What's being protested in Chinatown?

Surprised this guy hasn't been blamed for anything considering all the firebombs that have been thrown in riots around the world over the past 30+ years.

I'm with you on this. I may not always agree with protests but it is a right I support because it is a freedom everyone deserves as a citizen of this country.

What is making me mad is the people sitting in their Hollywood mansions having a say in what is going on. Telling people to keep getting violent and for everyone else to shut up and just take it. Acting like being an understanding of violence makes it okay. I understand what is going on, a lot of other people haven't gotten the memo. Some are paid not to and others just care about being popular and appealing to their fans, social media follows, or moron friends. Bunch of sheeple.

I just have a feeling this will come back on GTA someway somehow and it wouldn't surprise me if the politicians agree with the statements.
