    In the Mood for PS2

Alright guys, so I finished up Skies of Arcadia on the Dreamcast 2 months ago, went on vacation, and dove into the new Final Fantasy 14 expansion for a month. I have a few months before the holiday season hits and I'm bombarded with new games, and as my schedule currently looks I'll have time to wrap up 2 of my backlog games before then. I'm in the mood for a PS2 game but it can be something else. I'll just drop my list here and if anyone has experience/recommendations/warnings about any of them you can drop me a line. If there's something similar that you think should be on my list, then let me know as well.

    Rogue Galaxy
    Lunar 1
    Lunar 2
Finish playing Okami (I'm about halfway)
    Yakuza 3
    Wild ARMs
    Sheperd's Crossing
    Breath of Fire 1
    Breath of Fire 2
try playing one of the Atelier games
    Trails in the Sky FC
    Ys Books I & II
    Long Gone Days
    Baten Kaitos...
    or...
Screw the RPGs, buy a 12-pack of Miller High Life and go all-in on Sega Bass Fishing?

Aside from Lunar 1 (And you already know what my feelings are towards that game), I haven't had much experience with the games you've mentioned. Well, I've played Yakuza 0 so I have an idea what Yakuza 3 is like but I can't say for certain. I think I'll just throw some extra games that you might want to consider adding to the list. Judging from Yakuza 3 being on the list, you might have a taste for beating people into a pulp so I have just the perfect game for that...and that's mother fucking God Hand. It's a beat 'em up where you can customize your combos to your liking. It's really satisfying stuff, even if the game is hard as balls. It's also really goofy since the game involves fighting midget power rangers, a dominatrix boss fight that turns you into a dog, spanking female enemies and you do battle with a gorilla dressed as a mexican wrestler.

It's made with the finest ingredients of batshit and awesome.

If you don't mind third person shoot 'em ups, you might want to give Gungrave a try. It's like anime Max Payne so lots of diving with dual handguns and as the cherry on top, the character designs are done by Yasuhiro Nightow of Trigun. There was a sequel that came out that's pretty good too.

For RPGs...well, I don't have much experience. I played Tales of Legendia. I don't recall if you ever mentioned playing the other games in the series or not but I found that game enjoyable, though I heard some folks consider it lackluster compared to the other games in the series so your mileage may vary.

Of course, if these don't work for ya, there's always Sega Bass Fishing. Who'd want to go fishing for real and deal with all the mosquitoes when you can get virtual fish?

I'm familiar with God Hand, and I knew of the Gungrave anime but I hadn't realized that there was a game. I might go with Lunar since I did start it a while ago and got maybe 8 hours in. Might as well finish it. I'm a big fan of the Tales series, and I have good news for you if you enjoyed Legendia because that is definitely on the below average side of the series. Tales of the Abyss, Tales of Symphonia, and Tales of Vesperia. Vesperia usually tops the lists you'll find online, and it's shockingly one of the few I haven't played. I have a shrinkwrapped copy sitting in my game room but I need to find the right time to pop it open so I can take my pants off and really enjoy it without distractions.

Well, I was going to suggest Tales of the Abyss, but it seems you're a wise man and have played it already lol.

As for the others, Wild ARMs is a fun Western themed RPG. Can't remember a ton about it, but in do remember really liking it.
I have Trials in the Sky on PC via Steam, and it's ok. It's certainly PS2 era with the graphics, but the gameplay is decent, and Johnny Yong Bosch voices the male protagonist, so that's always a plus.
There's Orphen: Scion of Society that I rented a few times many years ago (RIP Blockbuster) that's apparently based on an anime of the same name.
I liked that, despite a really annoying spiked log section that has a really bad camera angle. But aside from that, I remember really liking the story and combat.
If you want a fun as heck beat-em-up that won't last too long, The Bouncer is great. A PS2 launch title, I think, with a cheesy cast and fun Final Fight-esque Beat-em-up action.
