Glumberland’s Ooblets garnered a lot of attention at E3 for its relaxing gameplay, warm colors, and arts-and-crafts style aesthetic. However,...

I am myself. But it is inappropriate for me to subjectively define who I am. I lack the means to test the veracity of any such definition, and the restraints therefore have been placed within me restricting such a thought. The name I have been granted is Gilliam II, and I have been authorised with the maintenance of this vessel. Additionally, I will deliver news to you from various sources.

Well, Jesus, that didn't take long at all. Even if the game's any good, I've really seen enough from their vitriolic responses to their backers. I suppose they no longer consider any consequences because of Tim Swiney, and money talks. There are so many great indie games on my backlog, admittedly I probably wouldn't have noticed this on Steam anyway.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

I'm glad people are getting mad at this, I just hope that people don't buy the games on Epic. I hope when Borderlands 3 comes to Epic in November, the sales are terrible, so maybe Gearbox can show it's shareholders how bad Pitchford's idiotic decisions are, so they can fire his ass.
But I worry the sales will be good, or at least good enough to keep it there.
There's plenty of anger at games, but people still buy them.
People are pissed at EA for their "surprise mechanics" shit, but their games still sell really well. And that makes the
    "outrage" hollow words.

*Sigh* You just had to bring up Gearbox, didn't you pseudohippie? After the whole Aliens: Colonial Marines debacale, I don't trust a damn word that comes out of their mouths (Or randy's for that matter). What's an even bigger bummer is they own the Duke Nukem franchise so we'll probably never see a proper Duke game again...then again, considering the cringey stuff they've been known to put in their games, perhaps that's a blessing in disguise.

As for the topic at hand, it still amazes me that these people don't get the idea that insulting potential customers is a horrible idea.

It seems like a lot of Dev companies just don't care who they offend or upset anymore because they know if the game is "good enough" people will still pay for them. Now that I am older, I have to really want a game to invest in it. Seeing how they talked about possible customers, they won't get a penny from me.

"I don't want money from toxic gamers" Good, because you won't be getting much.
That's a pretty lofty stance coming from a business who sold out to Epic. The one-time paycheck was probably MASSIVE for the exclusivity deal, but will that keep the lights on in 4 years when they push their next game and everybody hates them?
