I've never really played a game with no form of a final boss :/ and I've played a lot of games, unless I'm forgetting something.
I've played games where there's one final boss, but it continues for a short period of time, but in some way or form there's a final fight if ya get me?
Chang Wufei: I do not intend to fight. Now hurry up and retreat
Duo Maxwell: The god of death shall rise again but for now. I need some sleep...
Gildarts: Fear is not evil… It tells you what your weakness is. And once you know your weakness, you can become stronger
I prefer either one. For all it's worth, the finality of the experience is worth it in any way.![]()
The hilarity of the Chat Room:
(01:14:54) Somasol: also, don't forget to hit the logout button. sometimes you'll see people in chat but they'll disappear the instant you enter.
(01:15:32) Somasol: you'll be going "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU?UUUUUUUUU" when that happens.
(01:15:46) Somasol: anyway, g'night!

I most certainly do. Prime example: Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time :3
Well, I guess games without a final boss include many arcade games (which unfortunately, most of the new generation of games will never play) and MMOs. Or many genres too have few games with final bosses, or bosses at all for that matter; e.g. puzzle. I prefer final bosses, though. A few select favourites in no particular order:

I love the final boss music in both Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles.

I can't actually find a good video of this final boss. But above is the awesome music.

Final Fantasy VIII's final boss is amazing. Normally, for an RPG, it would be full of spoilers. There aren't many in this, but I wouldn't recommend watching if either you're currently playing through FFVIII or you plan to play it soon.
Maybe I'll add more some other time.
A big big boss, I mean ''BIG'' boss you find it down in description >>==D
Lost planet 2 is kinda like that I guess. Very long campaign, lots of shooting (not much slashing) Great storyline, Lots? of hard bosses, and different types of enemies without s***y magic spells only smell of gunpowder and lot's of bullets.

Games need a final mission or boss for some sort of closure. To give you a feeling that you've accomplished something, that all the time and effort actually did something, changed something, killed something. Without a boss, the game feels rather empty and unfinished. It's the same with a good, well thought out final episode for a TV show. If the show just cops out and ends in some half assed way, people will be down right mad, and will likely remember the game/show/movie for the crappy ending even if the rest is excellent.
YOu only remember the first and last parts of a show, commercial, game, or anthing else, so you need to make the ending worthwhile to leave a good impression
*cough* Sopranos *cough*
heck YEAH!
b/c than you can say i beat the "Boss"
"The mighty oak tree was once a tiny nut that stood its ground" -
i prefer games with a final boss. for one reason, the final boss level almost always ends up being something harder and more creative than the rest of the game. i also think that it provides a sense of finality to the game, better than if the last level is just a final mission or something. it provides a sense that you beat the hardest there is, and that there's nothing you can't do.
( Thinks while flickering my tail around. )
I think I prefer either one, if they're done correctly. x3 I'm too sleepy to give exampl.....es....
