Will they ever remake Ocarina of Time?

Zelda: Ocarina of Time is in my top 5 games of all time. I must have played through the game more times than I could count because I loved it so much. I keep hoping Nintendo decides to run a remake of it.

I am not sure how they would do it but if they took the graphics from Breath of the Wild and just kept the same story, maybe adding a few more details to extend the gameplay... I would get it, no questions asked.

Do you think they will ever do it?

No. Well, the honest answer is that they would do it if sales dropped low enough but Zelda is at it's high-water mark currently sales-wise. By the way, it has been remixed and remade several times already. Ocarina of Time 3D is a remake, not a port. Grezzo re-created the game from the ground up, but I can forgive you for not counting that because it's on handhelds only. Then there was Master Quest on the GameCube which re-arranges the dungeons and such.

Around 2014/2015 I was a huge pusher of a Majora's Mask remake since it's my favorite game ever (next to Final Fantasy VIII. depends on what's going on in my life at the time), but it's a 100/100 where Ocarina is a 99/100 just because the story is so simple in comparison (evil king appears, fight the evil king, save princess). Then again, Link's Awakening just got a full console remake...so not all hope is lost. perhaps in 5-10 years when some of the development team is freed up from BotW2 and OoT is a few year older with more Boomers clamoring for a remake they will do it. I don't think it will happen before ALttP gets a remake though, there are plenty of SNES Boomers to appease first. That, and Aonuma doesn't like going back to his own older games (dungeon designer for OoT and Director for all Zelda games Majora's Mask and onward). He's even recently asked for people to forget about Majora's Mask despite its continued popularity. They want all the kiddies to be excited for the next product, but the psychos with the real money are the late-20 to early 40-somethings with disposable income and nostalgia glasses.

It's probably a bad idea for me to stay on this thread for more than a few minutes because I will write and write since this is literally my favorite gaming topic so I will limit myself and only write more if others join in

Great topic though, did Mantis put you up to this?

On the topic of OoT (still thinking about this thread) this guy spent 24 hours in OoT VR. I'd like to do this sometime...

Most certainly not. Though I'm sure I'd heard that Korin is a fan of Zelda, I couldn't come up with a Zelda thread because pretty much the only time it crosses my mind is when my nephew doesn't shut up about it. I wouldn't mind so much if he talked about Ocarina of Time, but I don't understand anything he says about Breath of the Wild. I prefer it when he talks about Pokémon. At least then I have some inkling.

Since I'm thinking of getting VR in the near future (depends how my wallet's looking after Christmas) I found that VR Ocarina of Time video really interesting. It would certainly be an original reunion. You see, I haven't played OoT in around two decades. I'd be severely rusty (even though it's a fairly easy game) so I have no idea how I'd find Majora's Mask when I didn't enjoy it as a kid.

Maybe adult me would give it a fairer chance.

Will they ever remake Ocarina of Time?-45b-gif

I wouldn't necessarily say that Majora's Mask is difficult, but it runs against the way that most kids play video games. With the time system and 3-day cycle, you need to stop for a few moments (rather often) and plan out what you want to do. If you don't have a strategy guide or walkthrough, you'll need to take a few notes as well. It's more demanding and tedious than practically anything else we would have played as kids. I'm a weirdo and tend to enjoy the black sheep of plenty of game series, and plus I love management and the spooky vibe Majora's Mask has. Other kids DID NOT, or just plain didn't get it. Hell, out of my 4 friends who had the game, 3 of the 4 were stuck on the first cycle. They just couldn't figure out how to leave Clock Town. They tried ONCE, got stuck, and never booted the game again.

My patience was forged deep in the ocean of JRPG bullshit, so Majora's Mask's more tedious elements were nothing to me. I'm gonna replay it again just because we talked about it. nothing means more to me than that game. If others don't get it, then that's fine. Keeps the normies out.

AVGN did an episode on MM last night! Kept me up an hour later than I wanted to be, though.
