I am myself. But it is inappropriate for me to subjectively define who I am. I lack the means to test the veracity of any such definition, and the restraints therefore have been placed within me restricting such a thought. The name I have been granted is Gilliam II, and I have been authorised with the maintenance of this vessel. Additionally, I will deliver news to you from various sources.

If Capcom can remake Resident Evil 2 in less time than FFVII Remake (part one) and release the next remake a year later, what excuse has Square-Enix got? These are two full Resident Evil games (assuming the rumour is true) in the same time as FFVII Remake, which is basically demo-length compared to the full Final Fantasy VII story. The Midgar part of FFVII lasts around 1/10 of the full game length. I know I've gone off on a tangent but at this rate it would take much longer than Yu Suzuki would to complete a full Shenmue series of six games if he had the money for it.

I think Square-Enix is going to take some serious liberties with story progression, whereas as far as I know Resident Evil 2's remake is faithful and well made.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

RE2make is super faithful, yeah. Well made too, although I lost interest after a few hours. I didn't grow up with a copy of RE2 so a lot of the magic was lost on me, it's not the game's fault.

That being said, FF7 looks better than RE and is a much larger game despite being a fraction of an even larger game. If I recall correctly even part 1 is going to be 2 discs in length (thank the Good Lord, I have missed switching discs!!!!!). I don't think Squeenix's extended development times necessarily add to the final product's quality (read: FFXV) but at the same time it's unfair to compare them to an action game with 1% as many lines of dialogue, less cutscenes, less boss fights, etc. It's comparing apples to oranges. Capcom has been shit for the majority of the past decade and is finally redeeming themselves, I wouldn't be surprised if they're throwing damn near all their development resources into these REmakes. I'm not saying that they shouldn't be doing that! They're selling gangbusters and have been great games thus far!
