Unreal Engine 5 announced with PS5 tech demo

Epic Games has announced Unreal Engine 5, its next generation game engine, with the real-time technical demonstration “Lumen in the Land of Nanite” running live on PlayStation 5. I am myself. But it is inappropriate for me to subjectively define who I am. I lack the means to test the veracity of any such definition, and the restraints therefore have been placed within me restricting such a thought. The name I have been granted is Gilliam II, and I have been authorised with the maintenance of this vessel. Additionally, I will deliver news to you from various sources.

I watched this live and for the first 5 minutes I didn't see the title of the Stream so I didn't realize it was a big deal. Then it clicked that I was watching some of the first public footage of a game running on the PS5 in real time. That said, I'm sure everything in the demo was carefully optimized for performance in ways that a full-scale game just won't have the time or budget for. these tech demos usually show a best-case scenario to entice developers and customers. I know it's too early to tell, but so far Sony seems to be in the lead at least in terms of the news cycle. Xbox's "gameplay" event didn't really show any gameplay and their reveal event before that was ninja's by the PS5 controller dropping on Twitter. Sony has fully deployed their marketing sharks this time around. I still expect that Xbox will do well, don't get me wrong, but I do think that Sony has better mindshare right now ESPECIALLY coming off the Xbone. All that talk of TV, the built-in Kinect and the always online extreme DRM garbage really did Microshaft some damage this generation. It'll be interesting to see if they can turn the tide! While they took quite the financial blow this generation, this is Microsoggy we're talking about here! They could float failed consoles from now until the year 2100.

I don't want a blowout victory for any of the big 3. Competition breeds the best products & services, not to mention competitive pricing. I'm not a fan of the Xbox, it's controller, or its exclusive game series but that doesn't mean I have any animosity towards the console or its fans. Xbox exists as a necessary counter to Playstation running the Core games market and Nintendo going uncontested for the family-friendly/casual market. It's just that I'm almost solely interested in JRPGs so Xbox isn't the console for me. Never cared about Gears or Halo.
