Video game series that need to make a comeback

Game series like Mario, Zelda, Resident Evil ect. where it's a given that a new installment would be coming, but what about the games of the past? Series that haven't had an entry in awhile or perhaps needs to be rebooted into the 21st century. What old game series would you like to see a new entry in? There is a few games on my mind that I'd love to see come back

Bushido Blade: I have a confession to make...I'm not a fan of Square's JRPG games. Please don't hate me! I'm not a fan of waiting my turn to kick someone's ass. So everytime I see folks hype Square's next big game, my reaction is always the same; "Wake me up when they announce a new Bushido Blade.". I loved ths series back in the day. The realistic nature of the sword combat means you could die in an instant. Depending how defensively you played, matches could go on forever or could end in a matter of seconds. You can choose a variety of characters and even choose their weapon, though you have to choose wisely since some characters are better at certain weapons than others. If square brought the series back and made it even more realistic thanks to today's tech, I would be squealing.

Syphon Filter: This game was like a third person version of Goldeneye 007. You had a variety of objectives to complete and you had to use a variety of weapons, one of which is a tazer that can set baddies on fire. If they keep the run and gun style and stay away from the cover based/over the shoulder shooting and overly cinematic stuff, a modern Syphon Flter would be awesome. Maybe even bring in elements from Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain where you can choose your weapons and customize your character.

Bloody Roar: This was a great little fighting series from the PS1/PS2 days. You could change into a werebeast at will that had it's own distinct moves. Probably never happen since Hudson, the original makers of the game, is out of business but if someone picked up the rights to it, it would be awesome to see it make a comeback to have it compete with games like Injustice or Street Fighter 4/5

Black: This game was Call of Duty done right! No aim down sights, no rengenerative health, just over the top shooting. While it wasn't as fast paced as something as, say, Doom, it was still a hectic shooter since a lot of the enviornments are destructable. What made it even more fun was that it played by action movie logic, so guns held more ammo than they do in real life, they sound much bigger and stylized (IMO it still has some of the best gun sound effects I have heard in a game), and baddies would be blown backwards if you shoot them with a shotgun. If they made a sequel or a remake, kept the action movie theme and didn't try to make it copy CoD, then we would be in for a real treat. Of course, this is owned by EA so that probably wont happen.

Bushido Blade and Syphon Filter would be awesome to have come back. I loved the Syphon Filter games. They were always great stealth games.

And YES I would LOVE to see Bloody Roar revived. Aside from Tekken, that was my favorite fighting game series. I love the idea of being able to become a beast, do more damage, and finish the form with a super attack. It was so much fun. ut, as you said, it's extremely unlikely. Heck, I remember going to EB Games (which was bought by Game Stop in America YEARS ago to buy one in its first week, only to find out it had limited distribution because Hudson was already not doing well financially. )

For other games, I'd love to see a sequel to The World Ends With You. A DS game about people in Tokyo (mostly kids) who died for various ons, being part of a game made by "reapers", I th the prize for winning being en back your life. But the cost of entry is whatever is most precious to you (which in the protagonist's case, Neku, is his memory.
The story us interesting and the game play is fairly unique, using both the top and bottom screen to control your two characters, all with just the touch screen or D-pad. I loved that game, and it would work great on the 3DS.

I can't think of any others. You took my #1 pick with Bloody Roar, man lol.

What can I say? Great minds think alike. ;p

I remember hearing about The World Ends With You. I remember I had a friend who dug Square's stuff who was really into that game. Though I'm not much of a Jrpg guy, it did seem to have an interesting premise. I wanted to get a DS to try that game along with the Phoneix Wright games, but due to financial issues at the time, I never got around to it

Speaking of Square, we could also use a next-gen Einhinder. That game was awesome and it would be amazing to see an update of that with modern graphics!

Video game series that need to make a comeback

It's funny to hear you guys talking about Bushido Blade, I played that for the first time yesterday as I've been trying out a bunch of PS1 games that I missed, including Tenchu. I've always liked the idea of a fighting game with a more realistic take on combat, i.e. you take a blow to the head, you drop DEAD. It's a cool game for sure.

(By the way, both TWEWY and the Phoenix Wright games are available on phones if you're still interested in trying them. )

Hmm... I would like to see a proper Ape Escape again, I've loved that series from the beginning and always found it disappointing that they never made another one after the PS2, with the exception of party games and stuff like that. A Demon's Souls sequel would be amazing, though I'd hate to see it become a soulless cash-grab like Dark Souls 2 and 3, those games are basically proof that Souls games shouldn't have sequels.

Well, there IS the Snake vs Monkey mode in MGS3 Subsistence lol. It's not a proper sequel in the least, but its something. And it's a damn blast.

My favourite thing about that mode was the dialogue between Snake and Campbell. 'Why don't you ask Sam or Gabe to do the job?' Though to be honest, I had more fun with the Snake Escape minigame in Ape Escape 3.

Hari, you just mentioned another game that needs to make a comeback...Tenchu! I loved that game. It's one of my favorite stealth games. I even like it a little better than Metal Gear Solid. Man, if they brought that back that would be golden. That, or Way of The Samurai which was made by the same team. Nioh filled in the samurai action nicely but it would be cool to get another samurai game where you can change the outcome of the story.

Way of the Samurai! Now you're talking. Part of the reason I decided to check Tenchu out was because it was developed by Acquire, their games aren't of the highest budget by any means, but they sure do have a lot of heart. I always loved the soundtrack of Way of the Samurai, and Tenchu immediately reminded me why. It turns out they had the same composer from the Rurouni Kenshin anime, which I thought was pretty awesome. I'd love to see them make a comeback, though I wonder if the state of today's industry really allows developers to make games like that anymore.

Mega Man (especially the X series)
    Castlevania
Any Squaresoft/Enix JRPG besides Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts
    Ape Escape
    Dark Cloud
    Klonoa

Honestly there's way too many to list.

Parasite Eve, but back to its horror roots from the 1st installment.

Final Fantasy Tactics, I need another one done just like the PlayStation 1/PSP Version in the worst way possible. One of my favorite tactical jrpgs ever.

Capcom vs. SNK series. I just enjoyed the hell out of Capcom Vs. SNK 2 and I'm unsure why they never made another installment.

Silent Hill games going back to the original 4 games horror roots. It especially hurts because after seeing the promise that Silent Hills had with the PT Demo, it had such potential to be good again.

Mega Man as previously stated but I want another one in the Legends Series.

    MediEvil

Like Example, I'm sure there are so many more to put on here. I know some of mine have had iterations of these games within the last few years but I feel that the series of games themselves have been neglected or many years.
