Thread: Horror Music

When I was growing up, I really enjoyed horror films which is ironic considering I was like 7 to 11 watching mature movies. My mother never seemed to care. Not sure why. I have since lost interest in them and I don't think I watched one since the Saw movies and those were more "thriller" than horror in my opinion.

Either way, is there any song or general music from a movie that always stood out to you in the horror genre?

Ooohhhhh yes. The Perfect Blue soundtrack. Many of the tracks really add to the atmosphere and make the scenes in the film a damn lot scarier!

A couple of good tracks...





Obviously, they're a lot creepier in context when watching the film. If you've ever seen Black Swan, Perfect Blue apparently heavily inspired it. But if you ever want to see a psychological horror anime film with an awesome creepy soundtrack, Perfect Blue is the way to go.

I got a few good ones. Mainly related to Alien. I always loved the theme to the original movie since it's very subdued, ominous theme.



Alien: Covenant also had some scary sounding music. Say what you will about the actual movie itself, but the soundtrack was top notch. Seriously, the composer should do music for Silent Hill.



Switching gears, I suppose we can include horror music from video games as well. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver had some pretty creepy tracks.



When Doom got released on the PS1, it got a new soundtrack by a fellow named Aubrey Hodges. I still prefer Bobby Prince but when it comes to more creepy, atmospheric horror music, Aubrey has that down pat.

The God of War 3 official soundtrack sounds horrifying to me. Does it count? However, it somehow resonates a victory or glorious feeling into it too.
