    Random thoughts of mine..

I thought this could be fun. Didn't even notice the section when I joined. I used to keep a journal of sorts on a forum I was on before. I would just share random thoughts or things happening in my life at the current time. I don't have anything interesting to say really. I guess I can start this off by just sharing a few things about myself...

I love cats, and basically all animals really. Cats are just my favorite.
I enjoy anime but only English versions.
I play video games, mainly on PC (through Stream) these days.
I am married to a wonderful man who happens to be a complete nerd (in the best way).
I can talk for hours online but irl I am shy.
I once wrote a book... 48,000+ words. Never went anywhere with it but I loved the experience.
I enjoy crafts, drawing, and editing stuff on my computer ( I mainly use gimp).

Also... I have 2 kitties, 2 dogs, and 2 birds... I would make a Noah's Ark joke here but they are all boys.

It's a cool bio! I'm also one of the rare bunch that usually choose dubbed anime. So many anime fans need to cut dub watchers some slack. Another PC gamer, eh? At least some time in the future we'll sort out some sort of gaming event through Steam. You should join us. I think that in recent years the word "nerd" has been redefined. Nowadays people use it as an umbrella term, like "gaming nerd" or "movie nerd", and so forth. Since it's become more mainstream (and god no, I'm no hipster) a bad nerd would probably be the kind you'd see in 1980s films. Sorry to go off-topic there.

A lot of us are probably shy, so you're not alone there! Well, at the very least you got some practice from writing the book. Maybe you could give it another go in the future? GIMP, eh? I could never get used to that program, but we're talking over seven years ago. Maybe it's a lot better now. Be sure to post some of your artwork at Starwind & Hawking Enterprises.

    Thanks

I'm actually looking in to getting more online/multiplayer games for steam. I have a few in mind. My husband is "authentic" to the term, I guess you can say. Builds PC's and all that. haha Mainstream seems to want to ruin everything lol Oh and Gimp has come a long way, it is a lot better than it was just 3 years ago. I also use Krita. I will have to remember to post some of my doodles.

As for an update to my journal, not much has been going on. I recently got busy with more work which is good for money... Not so much for free time. lol I usually work part time and do some online stuff on the side. So if my activity dips at some point, just assume I am too busy with work. I tend to float on and off forums but stick around to ones I enjoy.

I immediately thought of this when you mentioned a Noah's ark joke. Horrid quality, but it's the only video I could find of it, and it fits too perfectly not to use lol.

For me, I don't mind if something is dubbed or subbed. I just watch more subbed anymore since that's what Crunchyroll has. Though I do MUCH prefer the dub of both Clannad and After Story and Haruhi Suzumiya. Crispin Freeman is perfect as Kyon.

And you are certainly not alone in being shy irl. I can talk for hours on Skype with online friends, but girl, I get nervous even talking to cashiers some times lol. If someone irl met me online, they'd be shocked at different I act lol.

Nothing wrong with watching anime with english dubs, though you gotta be careful because you don't want the sub nazis to hear you ;p

I used to watch anime dubs, not because I preferred it, but mainly because that's what most of the anime I bought on VHS had. Ever since I got Crunchyroll, I've been watching subs more and more. Still, the quality of dubs have gone up since the 90s. For the most part, I don't really mind one way or the other.

I can understand shyness. I'm still pretty shy myself though I like to think that I've gotten better at being more sociable in my later years. Still, I do get a bit nervous and awkward when it comes to trying to start a conversation in real life.

I am glad I am not alone with the shyness.. I think LOL I mean what if all us shy people were in a room together, who would break the ice!?
I am a general "only speaks when spoken to" person when it comes to people that I am new to being around or not around a lot. I guess this is part of being shy and also part not wanting to come off rude... Though a lot of people think I am mean and rude for being quite. I am losing this battle. lol

I'm not actually that bad with icebreakers so I could take care of that.

Damn, don't even mention those guys. They're amongst my worst enemies, both on the internet and offline.

That's a very handy skill to have. Hmmm, maybe I'll have to give the software another chance in the future then! I believe I've already seen some of your graphic tablet work over at Starwind & Hawking's. It's great stuff.

Don't worry about it. It's totally understandable. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Yeah, the sub nazis are a overzelous when it comes to dubs. Sometimes they have a point where directors would needlessly change the dialouge (You heard about that whole fiasco with the Prison School dub) but at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference. As I mentioned, I'm fine with either or though there is some anime that I only watch dub (Outlaw Star) and some I would only watch sub (Fist of the North Star).

It's great to know someone that can build PCs. My friend can, and he helped me with mine. Got a 2TB harddrive, a nice motherboard and graphics card, with all the parts, including the tower I love to bits) came out to be about $1200, where if I bought similar specs from a store, it would at least have been $2000.

OH! I forgot to mention something. There's an anime called Ghost Stories. The original series in Japan was received horribly, but they already sold the rights for an English dub, so the original creators just basically told the dubbers to do whatever the hell they wanted with it. Change the plot, make it nonsensical, whatever, and it turned out glorious. This is a rare and amazing case where the English dub is straight up better.
I would highly recommend watching the English version.

Speaking of that, does anyone else here have an interest in English voice actors? The more I watch, the more interested I become. Especially with Johnny Yong Bosch. He's in an insane amount of anime, and he does a similar voice in nearly every one.
Here's just a few from IMDB
His first role was as Adam Park, the black power ranger. He actually studied Shaolin Kung Fu.
A few of his anime and game roles include
    -Ichigo from Bleach
    -TK in Digimin Adventure Tri
-Shiro Byakko and Shinjiro Nagita from Kill la Kill
    -Koizumi from Haruhi Suzumiya.
    -Kiba in Wolf's Rain
    -Guy from Tales of Vesperia
-Persona 4 Protagonist in Persona 4, Persona Q, and both Persona Arenas
    -Shinsuke from Samurai Shamploo
    -Vash the Stampede from Trigun
    -Kaneda in the 2001 Akira
    -Izaya Orihara in Durarara!!

Bottom line, he has a TON of roles in games of anime. He has 211 credits as an actor. Holy shit, man lol.

There is a number of english voice actors who I really like. I'm liking Patrick Seitz for his performance as Ragna from BlazBlue. His voice makes me think that he'd be a great choice to voice Conan the Barbarian if they ever did an animated movie. I really dig Wendee Lee too. She never did a performance that I didn't like. And then there is Bob Bucholz, the man who was Gene Starwind. I'm bummed that he doesn't seem to do voice over anymore. It's kind of a bummer since he had this great, almost old fashioned voice in the sense that, if you put his voice in a movie from the 40s it wouldnt be out of place. Has he ever done conventions? I'd be curious to hear some interviews from him. I know there was an old Outlaw Star site way back that interviewed him but that site went under and no one seems to have a transcript of that interview.
