Zone Of The Enders: The Fist Of Mars

Hello and welcome again to another Let's Play. First we fought on a floating island (and are awaiting to see what lies inside it).

Then we escaped from cell 13, block 12 and battled against insanity and zombies to reach earth.

    Now we fight for Mars.

I present to you, Zone Of The Enders: The Fist Of Mars!

This is Konami's second of three Zone Of The Enders games. This one is different from the two console ZoE games in that this is a Turn Based Strategy (HAH) game.

It plays much like Super Robot Taisen (or indeed any other grid based game, but for simplicities sake let's draw comparisons between these two) but it's main gimmick is both good and bad.

Good, because you can direct the blows (kinda) by trying to hit the enemy LEV / OF or it's critical point which does massive damage.

Bad, because when the enemies try to do the same to you, you can be superman and not take any hits. I wish I was joking.

Regardless of this, it's a fun game. The two console ZoE games take no notice of this, so I suppose this isn't canon by their standards. 2167 Idolo and Dolores, I are canon though if I remember correctly (Idolo is referenced in ZoE by Viola, though she calls Radium the name Radam for some reason) but I shan't touch on those since that's what this thread isn't for.

    This is for Robots!

For OF ON MARS! (but unfortunatly, not this one)!

    For Freedom!

Let's play, Zone Of The Enders, Fist of Mars...

We start aboard the Bonapart 3. Our destination is Deimos where the first OF went berserk and was destroyed by BAHRAM and UNSF. Why we head is because we ferry people between Mars and Earth. People who want to live on Earth travel with us and vice versa.

We also carry... Unusual cargo with us and this one will be the turning point of our lives when we fight Scene01: On The Battle God's Palm

It just had to be Deimos, didn't it? Anyway, looking forward to this, just as I'm looking forward to finally playing ZotE when the HD collection is released.

As am I. Simply because I can be Anubis in HIGH DEFINITION in 2nd Runner.

But really, go watch 2167 Idolo or Dolores, I. First one's a film IIRC 2nd one's a Manga TV series.

Idolo has the first OF ever made in it, and shows what was sacrificed during The Deimos Incident which is what set the rest of the ZoE series in motion.

    ***Update***

As we watch the Bonaparte 3 crumble away infront of us, the bodies of mangled civilians float amongst them. The culprit, a winged Devil as black as the empty void behind him and surrounded in a red, ethereal glow coloured not unlike Mars.

This LEV fights hard but gets hit even harder until eventually that Devil retreats. Then to Mars we fall. Found by the UNSF but arrested we find our chances of finding our friend Ares growing smaller and smaller.

But our luck seems to be a Scene02P2: Perpetual Motion in both directions. But our new friend, Deckson has three other friends. Two of them are introduced to us as Scene02P2: Razma and Airhead.

We flee with them to their hideout. Terrorists they seem to be. But with them we must go to a hospital and see for our eyes how this group works. Is there salvation with this group or Scene03P1: A Hopeless Hope? Because I can only hope Scene03P2: We were wrong

RE: Zone Of The Enders: The Fist Of Mars

Alright guys. After the next update (which will be edited into this one) you'll be able to pick what LEV I upgrade and what I upgrade. That means you could make Caliburnus' missiles better or improve it's heatlh or armour.

Money will be coming in thick and fast after Scene 6 or so but upgrades are done on first served basis. If someone listed Laser Rifle upgrades for Dreizahn and Calamity Kiss aswell and that left me with no money, your upgrades have to wait until I have enough money to either finish the upgrades for the two weapons, or if the upgrades were done the same time I ran out of money then you get the upgrades you picked.

Why am I doing this? Because otherwise I'll have money never spent and it also gives you guys something to interact with.

    *** UPDATE ***

It seems that we are mistaken. BIS isn't a terrorist organisation. It's a freedom force, just as they said. Earth is predjudiced and racist against Martians. They call them inferior because of height and muscle strength. It's not their fault they are like that. Not every planet is like Earth.

This is wrong. Ned's also causing problems. He deliberatly causes harm and trouble to Martians and blames it on us. Of course, this is aScene04P1: Double-Edged Sword.

Amongst the blazing ruins and the broken LEVs. The shell casings and the metal scraps, BIS fights on to reach Robin O'Connell. Ned's initiated a Scorched Earth policy to smoke her and her assistants out but it shall not work. We reach the factory and Ned follows closely behind.

But clearly he wasn't expecting our newest trump card, the Scene04P2: Orcrist.

Ned's been defeated once more. For how much longer can he continue to pester and destroy this county? When will he finally be stopped by something other than BIS? It's not right, how he can just destroy other people's lives.

Orcrist is BIS' first Orbital Frame, or OF for short. Frame also works. It boasts good long range damage but close quaters is lacking. Unfortunatly we can't upgrade Orcrist. It does this itself during combat. Strange, that seems to be the case with our LEV...

Regardless, someone's impersonating us at the orphanage where Semyl grew up. We need to get there fast and the only name we have to go on is "Den". What he's done is terrible and should not be done by anyone. We can't save the children.

But then we hear Scene05P1: A Voice From Far, Far Away.

During the ensuing fighting and brutal tactics, Ned once again fails to take into account our intelligence. Vjaya and Durandal II have come to the fray. Vjaya is a BIS made OF piloted by Ares and moves lightning quick. Durandal II is piloted by a mercenary called Warren and is contending with us for close combat.

But our LEV is changing! It's becoming different in all aspects. Even Pharsti has changed. This new form calls itself Scene05P2: Testament.

I can't believe that just happened. Pharsti broke our promise. We can't do this anymore. We need to get out of here, to a quieter place. Far from BIS and UNSF. Far from the fighting and death.

We'll take a Blade towards the nearest town or city. Something with houses and air and food. Pharsti broke Scene06P1: One Wing's Promise.

The orphans! They're praising us and thanking us. Well, two are. The third had to be coerced by Razma.

But the line went dead. Explosions, lasers and gunshots and then nothing.

I never thought I'd be going Scene06P2: Back To The Orphanage.

I love how you send support/supply craft in, guns blazing.

    Especially since it works.

RE: Zone Of The Enders: The Fist Of Mars

Bolozof. A madman in a powerful LEV and is paid to kill. He runs his special force, Acemos. A special ops squad dedicated to being racist and violent to all martians except the 2nd in command, Nadia.

Martians have recently been protesting in the streets against various things. Just as we head out to ensure that Acemos nor UNSF initiate anything dangerous towards the next protest such as ungodly amounts of machinegun fire and explosives we recieve the parts and upgrades required to make a LEV better. These will have to wait until after we've babysitted the protest. (Thanks Killjoy for the submission)

Onwards we look to see the political stances on the topics are Scene07P1: Opposing Tracks.

We knew it. This entire thing went violent and it might've been a set up. A Civilian LEV was destroyed and the rest are under fire. The innocents must not be harmed at all. To escape through the bridge to the south will get them out of harms way. When gunfire sounds, Scene07P2: Civilians run.

Nadia and Bolozof begin to sweep through the streets like a plague. BIS fight hard to beat them back. LEVs are blown up left and right, front and center. Eventually we will bring Scene07P3: Bolozof Down.

As usual I'd like people to post upgrades which will be done when possible. Killjoy's made me burn my money on the Long Rifle and then on Calamity Kiss. We might not see the fruits of this occur for quite some time.

Does how many civilians you save in this mission affect anything? I only played it once.

Looking forward to long rifle devastation =D

Each civilian saved gives you 1000 capital.

The upgrades are quite useful. Just imagine how high it would be if I flipped the scales around...

RE: Zone Of The Enders: The Fist Of Mars

    Acemos. Bolozof. Nadia.

All of them work beyond the laws. They instigate problems to execute and murder martian citizens. They brutalise other security forces for their own gain and to further their position. They boast the most advanced LEVs around with the Bizac and Bizac S being their flagship upon which they ride through the red tape.

Razma's done some espionage of his own accord. A tracer was placed upon Nadia and he stalked her to a factory. Bizacs are seen there and this is thought to be the birth place of the Black Frame, The Devil.

We also believe that a man known as Zephyr is in leagues with the corporation running this factory and that it's being used for quite a few additional things besides LEV creation.

We shall move under the cover of night. Twede will help us, security will be loose. To evade detection and gain entry to the interior is our mission in the Scene08: Darkness Dyed By Darkness.

A waiting game for Phil and Ares. Both are our best computer hackers and experts and capable of getting any and all incriminating evidence we need. We'll stay on standby just incase they need our assistance. If anything goes wrong we'll be ready. Testament's humming is slowly making us tired and Razma's already out like a light.

If something does go wrong, we'll save Ares and Phil with the utmost Scene09P1: Sincerity.

The alarm was raised in this first morning's light and Nadia answered the call. Acemos moves into position with guns locking and lasers warming up. Phil and Ares must run the Blade fast and hard down the left hand pass if we are to escape this place successfully. It'll detonate within 10 minutes.

But we can't leave without denying Acemos some more firepower. Each LEV shall be reduced to the scraps it came from. Nadia's Bizac wont survive our confrontation.

Testament's ready to show us what the new weapon can do. This truly shall be a demonstration of Scene09P2: Nadia and Nails.

We saved Nadia and proved Testament's firepower to all of Acemos. Not a lot can stand against us now.

Everyone's gone to relax or buff up at the gym. Except Ares and Robin, they're trying to get information out of the data Phil collected. Razma accompanies us to see how they're doing before Pharsti proves her worth.

However... Disaster strikes as we find not only Semyl, Myona, Mebius and Phil scheduled for execution but also some random bystanders that have been kidnapped. Move fast and strike hard is what we must do to save these lives.

If it works out or not will remain to be seen. If we sit by and twiddle thumbs then they will be killed. If we act then they may be killed but atleast we have a shot at saving not only our friends but also the innocents. That's what BIS is about. Saving as many as possible from UNSF and Acemos' racist rule.

Alas, we find out about Scene10P1: A Pure Heart... And The Price It Pays.

Carving appart the LEVs of Acemos proves easy. The data server has been hijacked and new upgrades await some Orbital Frames. Where is Warren and Yukito when we need them?

Hopefully Twede has gone to get them. We've tried constantly to reach them but to not avail. If they arrived everything would be much easier to do.

Nadia's been stuck on death row aswell, alongside our friends. Time bombs strapped to their bodies we must fight harder and faster to the point we are Scene10P2: Blasting Through.

Bolozof reveals himself aswell as his new toy. Out with Nadia and in with Amante. Trading the Martian for an Earthling. Just like that prejudiced lunatic.

Testament takes a beating but keeps on fighting. Warren and Yukito have arrived and the Acemos die even faster. Nothing will stop our progression through this fight. Anything that does faces Durandal II and that's Scene10P3: Running The Gauntlet.

And I'll say it again, feel free to submit upgrade ideas. Doesn't matter if it's something I never use. Chances are when it's upgraded I'll try and use it more often.

    *** UPDATE ***

The execution rally was prevented, although it almost cost us Testament. We need to be more careful in the future with regards to the Bizacs. Nadia backstabbed Bolozof and Zephyrs for us by giving us the password. This should enable us to tear this virus file wide open and gaze into it's core to learn what intricate details it is hiding.

Maybe it'll contain information on the Black Frame or the destruction of the Bonaparte 3. Could it contain top secret yet highly illegal software and / or information? Maybe it contains all three. Maybe it can contain none.

What we do know it contains is information regarding Animus. Maybe Ares and Robin can tell us more. But there's another problem.

After cracking the file open we hit a slight snag in trying to prove Zephyr's involvement with the Bonaparte 3's destruction. The information we need is elsewhere. Luckily Ares has a plan again and it looks like it'll be a Scene11P1: Double Deal.

Edge has to be guarded from Amante and her grunts whilst Phil and Deckson gather information. Unfortunatly Testament and Vjaya can't join us here because of other buisness. Everyone else is here though.

If we destroy those LEVs fast enough, we might be able to assist Cage, Ares and Myona with any problems they encounter. Once this fight begins metal will collide with metal and lasers. It will be brought to ruination and we will stand victorious when we gain this critical information that implicates Zephyrs as the whole reason the Bonaparte 3 was blown appart and all those people perished.

And then they're realise they were Scene11P2: Tricked.

The plan is working. Myona will try and find what we need whilst we wait with Ares. We can only hope it goes smoothly.

An alarm! An alarm was raised. But it wasn't triggered inside. No no no, this is an external alarm. Someone else is here. Ares will stay behind, not of his own choice, whilst we mount Testament and see what's occuring.

Pink striped LEVs are engaging UNSF LEVs. Somehow I get the feeling we're stuck Scene12P1: Between Good And Evil.

Still not recieved any new upgrade ideas. At the moment only the Dreizehn's Calamity Kiss and Long Rifle have been maxed out. Nothing else has really been upgraded on anything. It doesn't matter how bad your suggestion is. The money's never used for anything else.

    Hmmm...

Upgrade all of Durandal II's weapons! Warren can never have too much firepower.
