Thread: Best video game soundtrack?

What would you say is the best or one of the best video game soundtracks?

I don't think I made a thread for this before (I know I have on other forums) but if I did, my mistake! lol

Anyways, this is one of my favorites hands down. It is just one of those ones that just flows from beginning to end.

I was blown away by the Nier: Automata soundtrack. Such beautiful music for a post apocalyptic and dying world. Contrasts so well.

Man oh man do I have a lot of these! The Devil May Cry series had a lot of great music so it's hard to choose a particular track but this one came to mind.



I feel that the soundtrack to Hitman: Codename 47 to be underrated. I love it's more ambient, electronic score that gave the game plenty of atmosphere. The series went for a more orchestral as the series went on. Blood Money had some elements of the first games soundtrack but I think the move to that doesn't give it quite the same mood as the first game's music did.



One soundtrack that doesn't get enough love is the music to Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun. Everyone loves to go on about Red Alert's Hell March but I always prefer the low key, ambient (There's the word of the day folks) stylings of Tiberian Sun.



I'd be kicking myself if I didn't mention Resident Evil 2, specifically the save room music. I always felt that this music helped give the game a more elegant edge to the zombie and mutant body horror of that game. It's such a beautiful and haunting track.



I've been recently playing Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project and holy crap, it probably has my favorite take on the Duke theme that I've heard thus far.



And lastly, I would be remiss if I didn't bring up one of the most iconic pieces of music in video game history.



And this song being a runner up...



Honestly, I could go on but I think I've provided more than enough here.

There's a game called The Long Dark, and it has an amazing and beautiful sound track. If you've never played the game, then by all means do, you can thank me later.

I played Automata recently, so I have been listening to that ost on repeat (as well as a couple from God of War) but FFX soundtrack will always have a special place in my heart.
