[gilliam]This is a guide for using MyCode on Outlaw Star UK!
[/gilliam]
What is MyCode?

If you've used other forums, you might be familiar with BBCode. Similar to writing simple HTML tags, BBCode would allow you to format text or be able to use other extra features very easily. MyCode is the name for BBCode in this forum software, MyBB. If you want to learn how to use the MyCode that comes built into MyBB, then take a look at this guide in the help section.

This thread serves as a resource for learning how to use any additional MyCodes which have been installed, and therefore this thread may be updated every once in a while if there are any new MyCode installations. (Anything major will be posted as a site update though.) Some of these codes are functional; others useless but fun. They are listed in order of usefulness. Have fun using them.

Spoiler

What is it?: Possibly the most important tag here. Use it whenever you are posting anything that might contain spoilers; i.e. plot information that could ruin something for other people if they haven't seen it all.

Usage:

If you want add a clue as to what the spoiler is (highly recommended) then use:

Code:
Episode 26
This is a spoiler!
Else:

Code:
This is a spoiler!

Result:

Episode 26
This is a spoiler!

This is a spoiler!

YouTube Embed

What is it?: YouTube embed lets you embed a YouTube video directly into the thread, rather than providing a link to the YouTube video. Also remember the full http://www. when using it.

Usage:

Result:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kel-1gmQjUA

Update: Since the newer version of the forum software was installed, you may also post videos from YouTube and other video sites directly through the Post Reply page, simplifying the process. However, this code will also still work.

Lightbox Image

What is it?: The lightbox tag is a replacement for the image tag. Posting large images can be a problem on forums. Lightbox creates a thumbnail when you post instead, but when a user clicks on it it shows the full-size image. Use this for images that are medium size or larger. (You can be the judge of that.)

Usage:

Code:

 MyCode Guide
Result:
MyCode Guide

Center

What is it?: Is the default "center" alignment code not working for you? Try this one instead. (Note: I would change the tag to "centre" since this is a UK site, but since we have a good few Americans, I guess I'll keep it as center...)

Usage:

Code:
This is being displayed smack-bang in the centre of the page.
Result:
This is being displayed smack-bang in the centre of the page.

Image Link

What is it?: This is an alternative to having to use the [url] tag inside of an [img] tag. Be sure to put http:// at the beginning of the URL.

Usage:

Code:
[imgl=http://www.outlawstar.co.uk/forums/images/mech/logo.png]http://www.outlawstar.co.uk[/imgl]
Result:

[imgl=http://www.outlawstar.co.uk/forums/images/mech/logo.png]http://www.outlawstar.co.uk[/imgl]

Wikipedia

What is it?: Easy way to link others to Wikipedia pages. Remember to type underscores for any spaces.

Usage:

Code:
[wiki]Outlaw_Star[/wiki]
Result:

[wiki]Outlaw_Star[/wiki]

Gilliam

What is it?: You can let the little Gilliam robot have his say using this MyCode. A silly MyCode that's fun to use in moderation.

Usage:

Code:
[gilliam]It seems you like my MyCode![/gilliam]
Result:

[gilliam]It seems you like my MyCode![/gilliam]

That's just about it for now.
