    Favorite Outlaw Star episode

Ever since I was a kid, I've loved Outlaw Star. I've watched all 26 episodes from beginning to end so many times I lost count. But there's something I'm very curious about: if there is one episode in particular out of the 26 that you consider your personal favorite or that stands out the most to you, what is it?

For me, this is an incredibly difficult question to answer. I love comedy, so Hot Springs Planet Tenrei is definitely up there. However, when I was a kid, I didn't even know about that episode because they never broadcast it on Toonami due to maturity issues. But even from back then, the episode that probably left the strongest impression on me was Episode 8: Forced Departure. Action of completely different natures in different settings, seriousness, comedic lines, serious moments, and an awesome grappler fight...there's a lot to this one episode, and in my opinion, it effectively sets the course of the remainder of the series.

But enough about what I think. What's everyone else's opinion?
“So here’s the deal. Life doesn’t always wanna be your friend. Sometimes it’ll feel like life wants to hurt you. But you can’t just hide, ‘cause nobody likes a quitter. You’ve gotta take chances. They never said it was gonna be fun, or easy. Whether your totally ready, or when you least expect it, it doesn’t matter: life will punch you right in the face. And you can lie there for a second, cry a little if you need to, but get back on your feet, ‘cause it’s the gettin’ back up that counts. And that’s what shows that you’ve got heart, that’s what helps keep you going. Fall down seven times? Get up eight. And know, we’ll be right there with you.” - T.O.M. (Toonami)

    RE: Favorite Outlaw Star episode

Nice thread idea, and nice episode choice. I've decided that posts in this thread do not have to abide by the spoiler rules. That doesn't mean spoilers in other threads are allowed. If you haven't completed the Outlaw Star anime though, this is a warning; I would advise you do not read any more of this thread.

Now, back to the topic. For me this is a very difficult choice too. I think I'll need to have a good think about this. Hah, it's really that difficult. Tenrei was good and some of the comedy was great, but it wouldn't be near the top since I think fan service episodes—whilst sometimes welcome in small doses—are episode time that would be better spent on the narrative itself. On the other hand, one of my least favourite episodes would be the one that introduces the Angel Links crew; Law and Lawlessness.

I enjoy the episode. I enjoy all Outlaw Star episodes. But I don't know. It was just a little less entertaining I guess.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

    RE: Favorite Outlaw Star episode

nice choice. jim's my fav character, and i just love how he is with hanmyo. i really wish it could have ended better for the both of them[hr]
also, believe it or not, why i like the hot springs planet tenrei episode actually has nothing to do with fanservice. when i first got the outlaw star dvds, i acutally didn't understand most adult humor back then. and with the episode, all of the sexual innuendo went completely over my head. even now, im still starting understand more and more of those types of jokes scattered throughout the series.

the reason why I consider this episode to be one of my favorites is because of the comedic moments and lines. These include tobigera's assassination attempts (as depicted in the following link), gene's attempts to defend himself as to why they're on tenrei to begin with, jim's reactions to whenever gene's not with the rest of the crew, and when the temple blows up and what they say right afterwards.

also, here's the video I mentioned

Decided to go with Return to Space. A great ending to the series. A few other episodes come so close to getting first place, though, such as The Seven Emerge, Between Life and Machine and Gravity Jailbreak.

Hard choice, seeing as the whole series is too great...

But I love how Final Countdown can be seen as it's own episode! The small sub-plot just before the main one starts to build up. It's a quick example of each of the crews abilities and heroism!

Just as an aside, Dymus, you have got to see one of the episodes of OS abridged if that is to be your signature.

Idk, I liked the ending, but it wasn't quite as satisfying as it could have been, I think.

yeah. the moment where fred is trying to leave after the semifinals, only for reiko to unintentionally injure him was hilarious!

I have seen on youtube some videos and I cannot found the episode I like the most. I just remember it is when Aisha fights Gene. :/
