    Your Favourite OST2 Song!

Vote for your favourite song from the first Outlaw Star soundtrack here. Consider explaining why, too. This is very difficult because OST2 has so many awesome tracks. In the end I decided to go with "Unknown", because it makes me think back to some of Gene's fights, such as...

    Episode 15: The Seven Emerge
    The fight against Shimi

Episode 17: Between Life and Machine
    The fight against Ronald MacDougall

If you want to listen to any of the tracks again, find them below. However, only tracks up to 18 (Formation) have currently been uploaded. This thread will be updated in future with the rest of the tracks.

heh probably already said it elsewhere, but Crash has always been my favorite. Seemed to play everytime the situation turns around for Gene and everyone.
This is my signature, isn't it great?

I gotta be honest, I don't really *love* the soundtrack. I mean it suits the anime perfectly when I watch it but it's just that teeny bit too cheesy for me to listen to. I prefer Cowboy Bebops soundtrack so far *hangs head in shame*

    RE: Your Favourite OST2 Song!

I don't even remember its soundtrack too much. I do remember the musical style was generally the same throughout, whereas Outlaw Star has a wide variety of styles. I could be wrong about that though. It was years ago when I saw Cowboy Bebop. I think soundtracks in general might not be everybody's cup of tea. Not to the same extent as myself, anyway.

Nearly everything I listen to is a soundtrack. I enjoy music I can associate a story or an experience with. Then again, I suppose that can be the case with other music, on some occasions.

    RE: Your Favourite OST2 Song!

No Katey revive yourself! Cowboy Bebop had a great soundtrack! Although Mantis is right, the music used in that anime was mostly jazz I feel (though they did have a bit of other genres too). I think Outlaw Star was a good anime and Bebop was a good musical score.

    RE: Your Favourite OST2 Song!

when crash plays, there's only one possibility: awesomeness
“So here’s the deal. Life doesn’t always wanna be your friend. Sometimes it’ll feel like life wants to hurt you. But you can’t just hide, ‘cause nobody likes a quitter. You’ve gotta take chances. They never said it was gonna be fun, or easy. Whether your totally ready, or when you least expect it, it doesn’t matter: life will punch you right in the face. And you can lie there for a second, cry a little if you need to, but get back on your feet, ‘cause it’s the gettin’ back up that counts. And that’s what shows that you’ve got heart, that’s what helps keep you going. Fall down seven times? Get up eight. And know, we’ll be right there with you.” - T.O.M. (Toonami)

    For me, it's Wander.

I've permanently fixed it with the phrase "Yes! There's more to come!"

"A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities streched out before him. What awaits him down the path, he will then have to choose."

    RE: Your Favourite OST2 Song!

As promised, here's my Top 5 list for Outlaw Star OST #2. Be sure to please check out my OST 1 Top5 while you're at it.

5: Operation The ultimate "pick me up" song. Personally, I find it really hard to be depressed whenever I listen to this. I will admit that this song may be a bit "cheesy", but it is a suitable theme for a backwater repair shop like Starwind & Hawking Enterprises.

4: Crash Oh man. I'm feeling the potential hate comments already. Hah hah. But seriously, I think a song like Flight handled the "main theme" of Outlaw Star better than this one, even if Flight didn't make it to my Top 5 list in OST #1 (I'll make it #6, how about that?). Still, Crash is a solid rock track that does get the blood pumping during a pivotal grappler fight.

3: Formation I was tempted to put Panic here for this spot, but I think Formation has a similar effect on tone. While Panic has a significant foreboding and perilous flavor to it, Formation has that but it adds in a little more suspense and a little less "oh crap" feel. Plus, I have a soft spot for the bamboo flute at the end.

2: Secret Oh my God. This song just SCREAMS energy and fast pace, but it's really a shame that they play this song only once, to my knowledge. This song is just SO good, even better than Crash. Yeah, I went there again.

1: Setsuna Wait...what? How is this number 1? I'll tell you in four words: bamboo flute and oboe. The use of these two instruments made me fall for this song as soon as I heard it for the first time as they both truly add a foreign and sophisticated sound to a very dark and sad song. As far as songs with vocals come in the OST, Setsuna takes the cake (though I like the lyrics for "A Date" better. ).
A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him. What awaits him down the path he will then have to choose; the boy doesn't always know. At some point the boy then becomes an adult, and learns what he was able to become. Joy and sadness will forever accompany this. He is confronted with a choice; when this happens, does he bid his past farewell in his heart? Once a boy becomes an adult, he can no longer go back to being a boy; the boy is now a man. Only one thing can be said: "A boy has the right to dream.". For those endless possibilities are stretched out before him.

We must remember...all men were once boys.

    RE: Your Favourite OST2 Song!

That's a brilliant list. I agree for the most part. Other tracks that would almost take first place for me are Get Higher, Operation, and Away. Crash is great, but it's a bit short and doesn't have a lot of "replay value".
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the ride—you're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"
