Thread: Anime vs Manga Discontinuity

So how many of you have had a chance to check out the Outlaw Star manga series?

Those who have surly noticed many interesting changes to the story.

Any thoughts on this?

Errr, there's only 4 chapters translated into english? !

Nope, sorry, not here. However, I have listened to many people whine about discontinuities of various animes. I got to say, it gets annoying after awhile. If you don't like it, don't watch it.

I'll also admit I haven't read a lot of the manga online. Most of it wasn't translated, and I only read a small amount of what was, preferring to wait until I'd get the chance to read the manga in full... if that chance will come. But from what I gathered, the manga had a little "darker" humour, and the anime adaptation was—whilst keeping the general plot intact—changed a bit with some light-hearted humour to appeal to a wider audience. I'm not complaining though.

The manga is definitely darker.
There's a lot more graphic adult moments.

But the biggest thing I found was that Hilda does not get killed off
early on.

I think you should use spoiler tags for a detail as big as that. People wouldn't have predicted that detail to be different. Well, I guess I wouldn't have. I didn't get that far into it.

Thought about it, but the whole thing with that is not that she lives.
It's what she does with all this extra time.
Plus I think it's less of a spoiler and more of an incentive.
Gives those who have yet to check it out a reason to.

Yes, but I know at least one member who had only got a couple of episodes into the series at the time. That was the reason for my suggestion.

So, where the hell is the full manga in English?

Pretty silly choice from a business standpoint to not release it, I think. We could always make a petition for its translation, but we'd probably be waiting a year or two. As suggested, an unofficial translation is probably the way to go. I'll make it happen. Although I don't know how... :S
