    Hey guys.

Quick question: has anyone purchased this Melfine Kit before?

I think a friend of mine had that kit in college, yeah. I don't know a ton about it because it wasn't mine but maybe I could answer something? Mantis probably has it too.

I was just curious if anyone has owned one or seen it in person. It looks really nice for a DIY build.

Did you ever physically hold it?

Iím curious if it felt like a GI JOE or a legit ďstatueĒ, over all bios quality, basically is it worth the cost.

Because you build it yourself the quality is more up to you than the manufacturer. If i'm not mistaken, the pieces will come to you unpainted and disassembled (it's in one of the Etsy pictures on that listing). $25 is a LOT cheaper than what he was paying back then ($80), so I don't know if this is a reproduction or a licensed product from the 90's??? The low price gives me a little concern.

    For sure.

The low prices makes me thinks the loose parts are just super flimsy. Even with amazing care and attention while building it, the end results could still be flimsy due to the manufactured pieces. Iíve never used resin pieces before. Iím not entirely sure what to expect.

Painting and assemble is $125 which seems...high.

I think I could tackle that part...her color combination seem to be straight forward.

I donít know either but I feel itís not official based off the seller/the product/pics/etc.

Oh yeah, I bought that. If Iím not mistaken, thatís Mantisís boy. Mantis sends off the official kit, and this guy makes molds and mass produced them. The one I bought had a manufacturing defect where the skirt is too thin, so itís brittle. Other than that, itís fine. You get what you pay for.

Pretty much what Cardinal said. The guy uses a process called "casting", basically duplicating the official resin parts. The Melfina figure in the original post is actually my own. I also sent him the XGP garage kit and he did this too, but I'm not sure if he's still got it on there. Casting can be a mixed bag. I've mostly got lucky with mine. The Melfina figure is beautiful and I haven't noticed a single defect... except the nail paint but it doesn't bother me. However, the XGP is a problem as it has many small parts, so the painted/assembled XGP I got in return for the garage kit (he sent me back the garage kit too) came really badly busted which was the courier's fault. He sent me another one cheap and I asked for a black XGP instead. I have it here, but the spikes at the end of it are very fragile and easily break.

Melfina: In my experience, assembled/painted is the way to go
XGP: Get the parts and paint/assemble them or have someone else do it

He also sold the doujinshi character "Dark Melfina" at one point. He used to sell on eBay but the fees were too high, so he either sells on his own website or Etsy.
Gene: "Have faith in me guys, enjoy the rideóyou're in good hands. I can handle this. I can do it!"
    Jim: "How do you know?"
    Gene: "I don't!"
    Jim: "I knew it."
Gene: "That's okay. There's a first time for everything!"

Haha, thatís yours!? Very nice! The paint job looks amazing. Stinks to hear about the XGP. though a black XGP sounds awesome!

    Melfina: $125 eh? Tempting indeed.

XGP / DARK MELFINA: no traces of them on his website. But I did message him via FB. Lets hope he hits me back.
