    Outlaw Star on Blu-ray?

I know that the series was released on Blu-ray last year in Japan and in the US, Funimation announced they had a lot of the Bandai licenses with Outlaw Star being one of them. With Cowboy Bebop already having the Blu-ray treatment, think they will release Outlaw Star soon enough? And also, think there will be a special collectors edition one like Cowboy Bebop got?

While I'd personally also prefer to watch it in high definition, I'm not sure if that makes much of difference in the first place. I mean we can already use post-processing in our media players, so considering how "simple" (in sense of large areas of one color) drawn content is, it's easy to upscale the content without losing out that much in the quality.

Still, an actual remaster in high definition would be really dope!

Honestly, I'm not actually sure. It goes without saying that Cowboy Bebop is a much more popular series than Outlaw Star. It would make sense to bring the Blu-ray to the west, but it's hard to be optimistic about it when after nine years they haven't brought the remastered set to the west, despite a few releases coming out with the sub-par normal quality. It really does make all the difference though, Ag. You'll agree if you see the Blu-ray on a 85" projector screen.

    Dang Mantis, 85?!
That is a lot of inches.

The sight must surely be glorious.

I'd love to see that. :p I own Cowboy Bebop on Blu-ray and Funimation did a pretty good job with it. Outlaw Star deserves the same treatment as well. Also Trigun if they can make it happen. Then we could own all three main space westerns on Blu-ray.

It would definitely be nifty for them to do it, though to be honest I don't know if I would buy it. When it comes to television shows I typically don't care too much about quality, so in most cases I'm content just getting the DVD release for a show.

But honestly, this probably isn't too high on Funimation's priority list. They have a bunch more recent releases from Bandai (Code Geass, Lucky Star, and Haruhi come to mind) that they're probably working to get out first, and you can bet that they're gonna be on Blu-ray. If we do see Outlaw Star on Blu-ray, its gonna be a couple more years.

I was surprised Anime Limited didn't release a Blu Ray of it here in the UK a while back, they stuck with DVD for some reason.

If it did get released on Blu Ray I would certainly buy it. I currently still own the crappy Beez DVD release which has sub par video quality.

It must be due to licensing issues. They even stuck with the original video quality, not the remastered DVD which was released in 2006 in Japan and is still Japan-only. If not licensing issues, this is ridiculous since the remaster looks so much better even at DVD resolution.

Edit 26/09/2016: I've since seen that Anime Limited claims their DVD release from a while back is the remaster. I just played it and it's true. I don't know how I missed this.

Ditto. I don't care if I gotta' wait: if they take their time, do it right, they have my money.
