I'm about as surprised as you are. Thanks Emilie! Now help me choose the best lines, guys! There's a lot of takes. Keep in mind it's been a while since Emilie was a young lass who voiced Melfina, but with all the takes I think some of them do sound very much like Melfina. It's all about choosing the best ones. Here's the file! (Don't be a dick—keep it to yourself.)

Very nice work! Listening through as I type this, wow. It's such a small addition to OLS overall but at this moment 20+ years later it feels MASSIVE. OLS will now have new content in 2019....I need to let that sink in for a while.

Oddly enough, I think she still sounds very much like Melfina! The time since the anime and her age don't seem to have affected her Melfina voice very much if at all in my opinion. I was worried that it was going to be a massive departure from what I remember. Very, very excited.

Haha, I think those letters were my initial reaction too. I'm gonna have to cut this into separate audio files and arrange them in a way that allows us to pick the best versions. Maybe some kind of voting system? I dunno what would work best.

Yeah, that's how I feel. It's very small, but they're only lines from the series (even if it's a canon video) that haven't been dubbed. I'm just so glad she was probably just swamped and hadn't actually ignored me. For the most part, I agree, she's retained that Melfina voice and some of the lines are spot on so hopefully we'll vote (or whatever we do) similarly. I just wasn't expecting her to send so many takes so I really appreciate that.

Yeah, she was exceedingly generous with her time & effort on this. Despite how many takes there are, I bet you and I would wind up choosing the same one or at least top 2. Oddly enough, we almost never discuss the show since we are always going on and on about the manga. When I finish up those last few episodes of Angel Links and Lain perhaps we can schedule a few nights per week to watch back through it. I know you don't need to, but the latter half of the series is hazy for me. Knowing that Melfina is on-board with OSN will give my next adventure through OLS new meaning and will perhaps be the most engaging watch-through yet.

Maybe we should each place the takes in an order (say there are ten takes, mark the best take as 10 and worst as 1) and then add the numbers.

Yeah, funny that. We've only really discussed the series when talking about merchandise or projects like the drama CD or light novel. While I was going to hold off on our group watch until the 20th anniversary of the first DVD release (August 25th 1999) these are desperate times! I'd be up for it.

First Bob Bucholz doing a voice over for Did you Know Anime and now we got Emilie also hopping aboard the comeback train even if it is for a brief moment. Man, age hasn't affected her voice one bit. She still sounds just the same as she did back in the day! Man, what next? Lenore"Aisha" Zann making a comeback? :p

I agree with Zemekis, we really need to hold a viewing of Outlaw Star again to watch as a group.

How about we start this weekend? We could probably do five or six episodes per weekend since they're not very long. I never even thought of Aisha's VA to be honest. The thing is, we'd need a reason for her to help out. With Bob it was the facts episode, with Emilie it's the missing lines, but I don't know about Lenore. Interview maybe? I think I said this already, but I tried reaching out to Gilliam's VA to no avail. As for Brianne Brozey (Jim's VA) she's been having a tough time recently, but apparently she's doing better now.

Regarding Justin's suggestions, I appreciate your trust but I think everyone at the Leyline has a right to decide on this, or at least have some influence in the editing. There's also the possibility that I won't choose the best lines, and I'll be completely honest: I wouldn't want to be completely responsible if that's the case, and with more input we can ensure the best lines are chosen.

I'm sure I can come up with a method to make this as seamless as possible. I imagine it would take around 30-60 minutes of your time to rate the lines once I come up with this. I'm thinking, maybe something that's like a soundboard that you can match up with the video. I can do that.

I probably can't commit to a group watch anyway, although I can hop in and out since I've seen the whole show anyway. Doesn't matter if I miss a week. You asked me somewhere else if I could set aside time for 5 eps per weekend, but as I said it would need to be a few nights "per week" not weekend...my weekends are more or less FUBAR until mid-June due to family, friends, and family friends graduating high school & undergrad. I've got a slew of graduations and parties to go to, on top of dog training classes and shopping/laundry/the usual shiz.

If this is something you and I are doing, we can just play it by ear and knock out episodes when we both have time. I will still make an effort to join if/when the group watches in August! It's my favorite anime or TV show in general, so I'll re-watch it for the rest of my life.

Ah, did I? Yeah, I can understand all of that. This is difficult to arrange when there's three or more people. I'm okay with "playing by ear", but perhaps it would be a good idea to do that weekend get-together and you can just drop in if you can make it. Most weekends I can find a time that works for Starwind, so doing it this way you'll at least get to watch some of the episodes with us, and you can watch the others when you get the chance in your own time.

And we can still watch the series in August too! I realise that might be overkill for other fans though. I've gone through the episodes so many times when editing the "Outlaw Star Clips" and the music project that watching the series has become second nature. Perhaps more (new?) members would want to watch it in August...
