Thread: Outlaw Star UK to Outlaw Star Nexus Bug Hunting!

First post in nearly three years, yikes. This is going to be a kickass relaunch, but we're not quite there yet. Most importantly, in the transfer across forum software some anomalies have appeared. You can help out. If you visit the old forum archive you can compare both forums simultaneously, and if you see any errors on here I'll give you fifty wong, the forum currency. With it, you'll be able to buy Triple Triad cards (the card game is coming very soon!) or play games in the Arcade. Speaking of which, I still need to add lots of games to the Arcade and the Gallery is looking pretty barren right now. I also need to add all of the achievements and ranks from the old forum, as well as the shop items and fix how wong is distributed.

This is all a bit complicated but just tell me if you see something out of place. Also, tell me if there's anything from the old forum you miss that isn't being added later (unlike the Triple Triad card game and Gallery which are new) and any other features you'd like.

Let's get hunting.

I should list some of the problems that I've noted and need addressing. (This isn't all of them. Some I simply forgot to write down. )

• Making dragon unread/read thread view icon (and other icons) vertically center-aligned
• Multiple-choice background support
• Conversion of old forum BB code to new format
• Making currency and points one unit and changing "points" label to "wong"
• Removal of green "Subscribe to This Forum" button
• Gallery photo not resizing properly
• Remove rating system
• Lightbox
• YouTube embedding

Okay, so the currency problem has been corrected and I'm in the middle of fixing the bad formatting in some posts/signatures, including text sizes and YouTube embedding.

Also, there's a problem with PM (private messaging) at the moment and users aren't getting notifications. Hopefully I can fix this in the next day or two.

I learned of an avatar problem (thanks Skatetro) which is now resolved and I've made a couple of database SQL changes. This has resulted in the removal of slashes and apostrophes in signatures and fixing text sizes. Basically, I've removed most of the strange text formatting. I still need to fix the old YouTube embedding. I thought I had it, but it's only showing YouTube hyperlinks now. Still, better than nothing. Anything else that's above is low priority at the moment. First I will focus on implementing the achievements and ranks, and then the card game, adding a few arcade games in-between.

Oh, as promised, I'm going to give fondofwisdom, Lord-Idolo and Skaetro 50W for reporting problems. And on that note, fondofwisdom discovered that creating threads in Tenrei wasn't working. There's a bug in the software which I'm having someone looking at. Don't mind me typing up this stuff. It's more of a personal log, but comment on my eccentric behaviours if you like.

Mine doesn't load to the side on FF, but if I go between tabs, it will sometimes be like that when I come back to the forums. I just have to refresh or return to the home page to fix it, though.

I hope this is the right place to post, I am still learning to "navigate" the website, so please, forgive me if I didn't find the right place to mention this:

I keep getting logged out. I don't know why it happens, but I have to log in after everything I do. I switch to new subforum - I have to log in again. I choose a thread, I have to log in again. I write a reply, I have to log in again. I thought it was only my computer, as I was first posting on my old PC, but after I switched to the laptop, I was still experiencing the same problem. It simply doesn't recognise me, even when I choose the "remember me" and "keep me logged in" option. I am always afraid that the browser will not be able to load my post again as some of them are very long and I always have to refresh or go back or log in again, so I never know for sure. I'd feel safer if I could stay logged in while I'm at the site, but for some reason, I can't.

Maybe someone has already mentioned this, but I am still trying to get around, so again, I apologise. Is there a way of fixing this? Maybe I need to install a browser or something?

Please let me know if you have any logout problems, everyone. It might have been a cookies issue on Aurelis' part, but if it's a common problem it's something that must be addressed. I've still got to fix a few of the above problems, and an attachments problem. Then, less importantly, the achievements system needs some functionality. Since moving from MyBB to vBulletin, the achievements have become rather difficult to transfer. The arcade was fine, but I do need to sort out achievements for certain. I'll report more bugs here as I find them, and I suggest that other members do the same. Thanks!

I have noticed a rather specific bug: when I right click 'open in new window' the forum shifts to the bottom right of the window. Not a big deal by any means, and it fixes itself after I refresh the page, but I thought you'd still like to know all the same. I'm using Mozilla Firefox on a Mac if that helps.

Speaking for myself, other than that I haven't noticed any other bugs. I'll be sure to report any problems if I do run into any, though!

I decided to test it for myself when you mentioned it out of curiosity, but it looks like it might be an isolated problem or browser/OS related, since I use Chrome on Windows 7. By the way, does this happen with other sites? Just curious. Either way, it's an interesting issue at the least. I hope it gets resolved.

Yesterday I noticed even though I had it set to keep me logged in, I got logged out...But it seems that that function is working today, so I'm not sure if I had a problem or just misclicked without realizing it last time. I'll try to keep a watch for any bugs still.
