Thread: Resident Evil Village

There is a demo live now for PS5. I don't have a PS5 but I watched the footage from it, someone else playing it on YouTube.

It looks really nice. Like the lighting quality and graphics. They did a good job with that. I am just wondering what the heck is up with that woman who is like 9 feet tall. I don't know the entire story or the basis of what happened as I haven't been following newer Resident Evil games. This seems very off the rails in terms of sticking to zombies.

I haven't played the demo myself yet but looking at the footage that's been revealed, it looks fine. I am digging the more gothic locales more than the redneck, white trash characters and setting that RE7 had. Still, I wouldn't say I'm mad hyped for it. I'll get it eventually but probably not until it goes on sale.

Resident Evil is the only videogame series I have any real interest in right now when it comes to new releases, so it's good to see that Capcom haven't gone and dropped the ball even with this weird direction things are going.

Resident Evil practically abandoned zombies at one point in the mainline games, with "more intelligent" enemies (Ganados/Majini/J'avo*) taking their place (along with the usual cast of super-sized mutant abominations which only increased in size as things progressed). Of course the so-called "intelligent" mooks were in practice just as fucking braindead as the zombies anyway, and nowhere near as durable in most cases!

*Well alright zombies were in RE6 too but J'avo were the main fodder.

So there are still "zombies" but they are weak in regards to the real enemies?

I can understand why they would want to pull away from this though because zombies have been done to death in the last 10 years with the rise of shows like The Walking Dead and other games like CoD baking on having it a featured game within a game thing.

It looks really good. Of course there's a mansion. Again. But it's distinct enough from the Atklay and Salazar mansions. And the vampire ladies look pretty cool (even if one of the areas gives me very heavy knight room vibes from RE4).
And they're trying their hand multiplayer. Again.
Maybe third time's the charm?
Though inactually liked Operation Raccoon City. Until people realized the shoulder rush mogr was a guaranteed kill.
I would.love them to brig that back polished with more types of characters

I liked RE7 well enough and played some classic RE back in the day as well but it's not a top series for me or anything like that. I'm glad that people are excited for something & the game looks promising. Too bad nobody can get their hands on a PS5 these days (although I know ONE person that has one & is on OSN...). Seems like people are into it, but I don't really like the aesthetic.

I have yet to see a console in store anywhere around where I live. My brother happened to get an Xbox X Series but he bought it and sold it for a mark-up. Maybe $100 on it. Not sure what the point was. I think he was thinking he would do what those scalpers do on ebay and get double the value. That kind of stuff annoys me.

Resident Evil became a complete disaster for around eight years. I'm glad the franchise is back on its feet, even if it took a different direction. I wish I could say the same for Silent Hill, arguably a better franchise way back in the day but now and for eternity six feet under.

This is how I feel as well. I was a bit more of a Silent Hill guy than Resident Evil. Classic RE is really cool (wasn't a HUGE fan of 4, but I still like it), but classic SH has a vibe that jives a bit better for me. I'm just happy that at least one of them will be able to continue on and has found a place in the modern gaming landscape.
