Hanmyo, please?

I'd like to, but the reason I haven't done a Hanmyo smiley yet (aside from the fact she's a minor character) is her proportions. Which is why I haven't tackled Jim yet. Kid faces are very different so I'm not sure how difficult Jim will be. Before Hanymo I'd certainly do the Jim set since that gives me a bit of a template.

Very early WIP of Jim's default smile:



As you probably guessed I used Gene as the template. Made his face more fat/puffy for more childlike proportions and increased the eye size. The hair has been modified but it currently has no shading. Skin tone changed and smile has been changed to a smirk which I thought was more like Jim, but otherwise this doesn't really look like Jim yet. This is only a ten-minute job though.

Unlike other OLS projects I'll be able to work on sprites while I'm staying with family over Christmas. (During any free time anyway.) Plenty more to come.

That's actually a decent idea as well. Hilda with a "Rahael" variant maybe? haha

Hilda's a good idea. One character at a time, though. Here's a new WIP of Jim also with some shading added to his hair. But there isn't that much since there isn't much on Gene.





I'm not sure what else to do. I want to refine it before making other expressions, but I'm not as good of a pixel artist as, say, Skatetro who did the Aisha smilies. My Jim looks more like a teenager but I can't do a whole lot else to make him childlike.

I think I've finished Jim's face. Made it a little less teenage-y. Also done what might be his grinning smiley.

This is a very early Hanmyo smiley, so take it with a pinch of salt. Hanmyo has a lot of detail unlike Jim so I'm not sure when I'll get round to finishing it, but I thought I'd post an early version now anyway. Suggestions welcome.

Okay, now it's official: Jim is in the smiley roster.



I'll probably make a site update for this, but I've not done all of them yet. While I'm happy with most of them, I'm not 100% sure about the grin smiley (also the WTF smiley) and I've still gotta do the lovesick and sick smilies. Also the tongue/rasping one. I'd do them now but since it's New Year's Eve I don't have the time today.
