Do PC Games Exist?

I don't mean "personal computer" games, I mean politically correct ones.

I am asking because I want to see what one would look like. From what I understand, PC books never make good sales and end up being a waste of time and money because they appeal to such a small group of people. I am wondering if video games that are "PC" are the same. I know it is a weird topic but I have weird thoughts throughout the day.

Games that are overtly politically correct usually follow the "get woke, go broke" mantra as well. The poeple complaining about tits or ass or cuss words in a game are not the game's audience. I can't source this statistic, but I'm quite sure that almost nobody who makes a fuss over a game goes out and buys it if they remove the offending material. It's always too-little-too-late for them, or they don't feel that the developer has truly changed. And they shouldn't change. If PC games are profitable, there would be studios who make them as a genre.

As for ones that exist...you can look at a lot of the visual novels and porn games that Steam & PS4 are cracking down on, but those end up losing money after the crackdown....the ONLY successful ones I can think of off the top of my head are League of Legends and Overwatch......which didn't sell well BECAUSE they're PC but because they are mega-massive AAA games.

The short answer to your question is no. There is no significant sales boost gained from being PC as far as I can tell. The last game I can remember that was made with being PC in mind from the ground up was "Lawbreakers"....which lasted for like a month before servers shut down.

It depends what you mean by "PC". A game that's planned to be entirely politically correct, or a game made by people who are walking on eggshells? I'll address the latter. It's more of a recent trend. It's usually for one of two reasons...

1. Feeling no choice: Often, game developers don't want to change their game but they'll do it due to political pressure. Sometimes they give in more easily, especially with larger AAA game developers/publishers because they'd rather just appease the minorities than endure loads of nasty tweets or articles if they did something considered offensive. (Basically everything nowadays.)

The problem can be worse for indie developers. If they pander just once to SJWs they'll be expected to stick to that narrative for the entirety of the game's development. If they don't, they might be doxxed for instance. Worse yet, some games might be cancelled due to SJWs' objections and mob tactics, or a company may choose to simply not release a game in the west like with Dead or Alive.

2. Virtue signalling: It's a common trend lately in many industries for a company to virtue signal (appearing to support an agenda to appear noble but not really giving a crap) to take advantage of naive SJWs. For instance they might retcon (backpedal on a story and change its history) a game to include something politically correct, like people of different races or homosexuality which is fine by me, but it's easy to tell when it's been forced.

This can backfire and oftentimes many long-time customers may boycott a series because the publisher (or sometimes the developer) has chosen to make drastic changes to a game narrative for perceived social justice. Social justice is good for business... some of the time.

Yeah I meant it as in the people producing games for people who are too sensitive. Like the same people who will develop a game that has the main character be a lesbian female who is slightly overweight and her sidekick is a trans person. Nothing against them but why would you try to market to such a small minority? Why not just let them enjoy games where they have to ability to create their ideal character like WoW or something. lol

I am not a fan of virtue signaling or that crap that Gillette recently tried to do. I can tell when people don't know what the heck is going on and if they are using a political voice or opinion to make more sales or get more attention.

I think Gone Home might count as this as it tries to "address LGBT issues", although it's a fairly popular game. I heard about a recent one called Rimworld that has lots of stories about all kinds of people like transgender, and you can choose different characteristics for your characters such as "misogynist".

Funny thing, PC Gamer (the irony) went full SJW about this and it started some SJW infighting. If I recall correctly they suggested that the transgender stuff seemed shoehorned and that backstories like "dressing in mother's clothes as a child" left a bad taste in their mouth.

It turned out that Rimworld's developers worked with a lot of transgender people and the backstories in the game were based on their experiences, so when those transgenders caught wind of this, shit went down.

I'd maybe call Rimworld a "PC game" because a lot of it was designed for minorities.

At least they did research. I find it ironic how others got upset over it. I noticed a pattern of regular, straight, white people who are the most offended for other people and try to get them to be more offended or to be offended in the first place. Wacky world we live in lol

Same here. They probably don't have anything going on in their lives or they can't get any attention via conventional means so they act outraged by anything they can to garner attention. It sort of takes the place of having real friendships, an interesting hobby, or marketable skill.
