Changes to Forum Management: Part One

This might seem a bit abrupt to some of you, and I apologise for that. I have however been planning to do this either now or later. I'm going to change how staff positions work here. This is part one because honestly, I've been working on a lot of other things today and I'd rather write up a more detailed post at a later date.

Although I've tried to stay strong and positive about things, I must accept the fact that this community has potential. Hell, that isn't something to accept. That's something to cherish! We have a chance to grow. I can see that now. Either way, I'm happy with what this community has become. But with growth comes a greater workload, and I am finding it difficult to manage the forum on my own.

Do you think you could bring something new to the table? Do you want to take your contributions to another level? Soon you will have a chance to do so. There will be different staff positions to cater for your different abilities. It should be noted that being a staff member is no walk in the park, nor a shiny badge. It will require dedication. It will require balls of steel. (Or ovaries, I guess.) But I know for some of you it will be a rewarding experience.

That said, none of you should feel any obligation to become staff. That is down to you. I am extremely grateful for the brilliant posts many of you have written, and various other contributions. That is more than enough for me, on an individual level. Without the community spirit that you are a part of, we would not have got this far. I will announce the new staff positions in the next update. I'm not sure when this will be. It will be soon after then that I'll be accepting applications. Becoming staff will involve a trial period, after which you can decide whether it is for you.

Because the staff system is being completely revamped and new titles introduced, as of now I'm removing all current staff. Currently, that is only Somasol. He will have to reapply, should he like the look of the future positions. In addition, the Outlaw Star Guru title which SethClanclan holds is being removed, in favour of one of the new staff positions which will involve producing new exclusive content (including content pertaining to Outlaw Star) for the site. No offence is intended by any of this. I hope you will both understand.

That is all for now. Thanks, and I will announce further details in the near future. I'm open to any opinions, however.

None taken. I would have expected It anyway, since I know I have not been focusing on the site as much as I have been putting my efforts toward my job, Among other things lately. I'll try to stay on track with the site again.
The hilarity of the Chat Room:
(01:14:54) Somasol: also, don't forget to hit the logout button. sometimes you'll see people in chat but they'll disappear the instant you enter.
(01:15:32) Somasol: you'll be going "FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU?UUUUUUUUU" when that happens. XD
    (01:15:46) Somasol: anyway, g'night!
(01:15:47) ChatBot: Somasol logs out of the Chat.
(02:20:39) ChatBot: MajinCooler27 logs into the Chat.
(02:20:42) ChatBot: Hannah has been logged out (Timeout).
    (02:21:11) MajinCooler27: FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU?UUUUUUUUU
(05:06:24) ChatBot: MajinCooler27 logs out of the Chat.
(07:30:03) ChatBot: MajinCooler27 logs into the Chat.
(16:23:48 ) ChatBot: Somasol logs into the Chat.
    (16:24:07) Somasol: LOL.

    Indeed.

I'm not sure if this matters, but I've had past experience in a moderator-based office system, which was more focused on enforcing the rules and giving guidance rather than actually offering special privileges outside of "law enforcement". I've served as a master moderator in a local Final Fantasy forum and a sub-admin for another really local and simply random forum covering random topics. I eventually was promoted to admin when the co-admin left and I totally reorganized the rules, topic coverage, and overall layout of the site. It's been YEARS since I've done these types of things and the things I've contributed to these forums in the past were a bit juvenile and underdeveloped, but I do have experience, and I'm willing to help in any way I can.
A boy has the right to dream. There are endless possibilities stretched out before him. What awaits him down the path he will then have to choose; the boy doesn't always know. At some point the boy then becomes an adult, and learns what he was able to become. Joy and sadness will forever accompany this. He is confronted with a choice; when this happens, does he bid his past farewell in his heart? Once a boy becomes an adult, he can no longer go back to being a boy; the boy is now a man. Only one thing can be said: "A boy has the right to dream.". For those endless possibilities are stretched out before him.

We must remember...all men were once boys.

That's a fair bit of experience you have under your belt. I'll be accepting applications in the coming weeks (can't say for sure) when I have some of the high-priority tasks out of the way. You have a lot of good staff qualities, so if you're interested, be sure to apply then.

Cool. Just let us know when we can apply.
