Should Politics Be A Part Of Sports?

I saw a video on this today and found it interesting. Most people seem to feel that it shouldn't be a part of sports as it is a source of entertainment and an outlet. Many have lost interest in sports because of the politics being pushed on everyone through the players.

I feel like it should be separate. If a player wants to protest or voice their opinion, it should be out of the jersey and away from the game.

Nope, I don't follow or care about sports but I think they both need to focus on what they are made for and not interfere with eachother, I've seen so many football (soccer) fans go political on each other and such.

It just seems silly to me. Like had I still been in to any sports like I once was, this would have put me off from them entirely. I get that everyone is all over politics these days, all ages too but keep that crap separate from work!

You mean politics in sports? Definitely not. In the upcoming 2020 Tokyo Asian games. Rumor has it that boxing will not be included in the list of events because of poor judging during the previous one. I firmly believe that politics were involved.

I honestly can't stand that politics is seeping into sports. The most obvious is players kneeling for the United States National Anthem during NFL games. If you want to "protest police brutality", there are plenty of other, much more helpful ways to do it. Kneeling during a time that's used to salute our nation, flag, and troops is about the worst time to do it, in my opinion.
But it's not just sports. ESPN has gone political many many times, and it pissed people off, causing a sharp decline in ratings, and ESPN was forced to let go over 100 employees.
People watch sports to watch sports. People watch ESPN for sports news. Not to listen to Scott Van Pelt talk about his hatred for Trump.
Talking about politics on a sports show is like CNN having an hour talking about Fantasy Football. It doesn't mesh. At all.
