    Personal graphic novel

I've been working on a story for a while now, and only have gotten about 6 pages actually drawn. It's seriously taking ages, but I'm happy to finally be making the finished product rather than distracting myself with world building

Wow, that looks amazing. How long have you been working on this for? Six pages is still a lot at this kind of quality! Yeah, I can imagine a lot of people getting stuck with the world-building aspect of it.

thanks! It's evolved quite a lot, but I didn't seriously start working on it until a couple of years ago when I shifted all focus to writing. it's only been since the start of 2020 that began drawing the actual pages

Wow that's really impressive. I didn't know what to expect when I checked in on this thread but I'm very pleasantly surprised. Keep us posted

I'm only just starting out learning to draw with any real seriousness as I got a decent graphics tablet and I'm prepared to put in the time. One of my eventual goals is being able to draw like that. I've gotta admit, it feels like I'm far beyond the ideal age to learn these things but whenever I see somebody making something like your graphic novel it is quite inspirational.

I really did run away from it for a while. Every time I started, I realized how much I either didn't know or how much work it would end up being. It took getting fired from my job a few years ago to get the story really flowing out, and I think some of the most significant boosts to the work happen after really big life things. I also struggled with the idea you mentioned, of either getting too old or running out of time. I think that's just a constant battle to fight haha.

One of my really big inspirations was watching Manben
    YouTube
Hearing how they talk about their process and seeing them sketch everything out on paper made drawing my own feel so much more tangible

That channel looks pretty cool. I'm subscribed to DokiDoki Drawing. They usually have mangaka on it so it seems like a good resource that I'll make use of. And yeah, I think you're right there. Sometimes changes can need a bit of a shock to the system.
